The Ford Model T, introduced in 1908, became one of the most influential cars in history.Ford has a long history of innovation, including the development of the Mustang, F-Series trucks, and SUVs like the Ford Explorer.

The company has a global presence and continues to evolve with electric and autonomous vehicle initiatives.

Ford Motor Company, which is in Michigan, U.S.A. has a subsidiary in India, Ford India. The Indian branch of the American automobile brand has its head office in Chennai. The company works as an independent arm of the parent company in India and has been doing that since 1998.

The current product portfolio of Ford in India includes the Ford Aspire, Ford Freestyle, Ford Figo, Ford EcoSport, Ford Endeavour, and the Ford Mustang. One of the first compact SUVs that was launched in India by Ford was the EcoSport. All car models except for the Mustang are manufactured at the production unit in Sanand, Gujarat, and Chengalpattu, Chennai.

In April 2019, Ford Motor Company came into a partnership with Mahindra and Mahindra to manufacture an all-new mid-size SUV for the developing markets. Apart from this new car model, both brands also agreed to work on areas such as electrification, product development, and product distribution. Apart from selling cars in India, Ford India also exports products from India to other countries.
