Bajaj eyes Nagpur as its third city in its proposed launch of the Bajaj Chetak Electric scooter in 22 cities by 2022.
● After Pune and Bengaluru, Bajaj Chetak eyes the Nagpur market.● Bookings for the Bajaj Chetak to open soon in Nagpur● Chennai and Hyderabad could be the next in line to welcome the Bajaj Chetak Electric scooter.
Bajaj Auto had announced plans to introduce its Bajaj Chetak Electric scooter in 22 Indian cities by 2022. After Pune and Bengaluru, Nagpur has the honour of being the third city to welcome the scooter on its roads. Interested buyers can register for Bajaj Chetak Electric on the company's website. Bajaj Auto has also listed Chennai and Hyderabad as the next cities to receive the Bajaj Chetak Electric.
The Pricing – Will have to wait
Bajaj Auto expects an excellent response to its announcement. As a result, the company plans to open the bookings briefly and release the scooter in limited numbers. Previous experience shows that the bookings were full within two days when the company opened them in April. The Urbane variant opened with a price tag of Rs 1.42 lakhs and the Premium version at Rs 1.44 lakhs (ex-showroom prices). However, with the availability of the reworked FAME II subsidy, one can expect the prices to come down. Hence, Bajaj has not yet released its official pricing for the model.
The Power Source
The Bajaj Chetak Electric will come equipped with a 3.8 kW PMS motor that draws power from the 3 kWh Li-ion battery pack. It expects to deliver a maximum power of 5 bhp and a peak torque of 16.2Nm. Bajaj expects the mileage performance to be around 80 km on a single charge that can increase to 95 km in the Eco mode. Thus, the top speed could be around the 70 kmph mark. A standard 3-pin charging socket should suffice to charge the Li-ion batteries within six to eight hours. As of now, there is no option for a fast charger.
Other Features
Bajaj Chetak Electric has an impressive design, complete with its all-metal body, illuminated switchgear, LED illumination, Bluetooth-enabled instrument console, sequential turn indicators, and much more. As for competition, the Bajaj Chetak will compete with the Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and the soon-to-be-launched Ola electric scooter.
