New Pulsar N160 colours differ as per variants: single-channel ABS edition gets Carribean Blue, Racing Red, Techno Grey shades, and dual-channel ABS version gets only Brooklyn Black theme.
Bajaj Auto Limited has newly introduced its Pulsar N160 model in the country. The Indian multinational automotive company based out of Pune, Bajaj Auto is one of India's largest two-wheeler makers that has successfully sold their Pulsar brand in the domestic market as well as overseas, since the year 2001.
The new N160 price in India starts from Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for single-channel ABS unit and 1.28 lakh for segment-first dual-channel ABS unit. Some months prior to the launch this latest Bajaj motorcycle was spotted doing test runs in disguise on multiple occasions in the country. Bajaj dealerships have started accepting bookings for the new Pulsar N160.
Bajaj offers a new refined DTS-i engine on its Pulsar N160 powertrain. The latest Pulsar competes against the likes of the Hero Xtreme 160R, Suzuki Gixxer 150cc street naked, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, and the Yamaha FZ naked motorcycle.
The latest Pulsar sports commuter is built on the Bajaj Pulsar 250 platform that makes it the second Bajaj model to follow suit. And also as a result, the appearance of the new Pulsar N160 is much like a mini version of the latest Pulsar N250 naked street-fighter bike.
The Pulsar N160 design cues have been taken from the bigger Pulsar N250 flagship motorcycle, such as extended tank cover, higher tail-end, rear tire mudguard, single-pod LED headlight with dual-LED DRLs, split grab-rails, split seats, and an X-form LED tail light. It seems even the Pulsar N160 alloy wheels and the box-section swing-arm have also been taken from the new quarter-litre Pulsar N250.
But unlike the side exhaust on the N250 bike, the Pulsar N160 gets an under-engine exhaust. The Pulsar N160 seat height measures at 795mm, and the dual-channel ABS equipped Pulsar N160 weighs 154kgs.
The new Bajaj 160 bike features a headlight with twin DRLs and a rear crystal LED tail light. Additionally, the new Pulsar features a 14 litre fuel capacity, half-analog half-digital display screen with clock, fuel-economy indicator, gear indicator, and vehicle range, along with interactive infinity instrument cluster and USB charging port.
The new Bajaj naked street-fighter Pulsar N160 engine is a new 164.82cc, air-oil-cooled, single cylinder 2-valve motor that churns out 15.7 BHP at 8,750rpm and 14.65 Nm of peak torque at 6,750rpm, wielding power via a five-speed transmission. The new 2022 Pulsar N160 model produces 1.2 horsepower less compared to the old Pulsar NS160 bike’s 160cc, 4 valve motor, but it is high on torque.
Twin-channel ABS-enabled Pulsar N160 suspension system has a 37mm telescopic fork in the front and a new mono-shock unit at the rear for better handling. The N160 motorcycle wheels measure 17 inch with 100/80-17 tires in the front and 130/70-17 tires at the rear.
In terms of the braking department, the single-channel ABS equipped Pulsar N160 variant sports a 280mm disc in the front, whereas dual-channel ABS Pulsar N160 braking unit features a 300mm disc at the front. While both Pulsar variants come fitted with a 230mm disc at the rear-end. The single-channel ABS version of the new Pulsar N160 weighs 152 kilos, while the weight of the twin-channel ABS variant Pulsar measures around 154 kilos.
According to Mr Sarang Kanade, the President of Motorcycles at Bajaj Auto, “Two decades ago, Pulsar revolutionized and spearheaded the sports-motorcycling trend in the country. The biggest Pulsar 250 bike launch based on the new platform in October last year, garnered a great response from buyers, Bajaj enthusiasts & fans and even experts. We are delighted to expand the new platform to the Pulsar 160cc category. The new Pulsar N160 two-wheeler features a thrilling proposition that is developed to provide the best street riding adventure."
All-new Pulsar N160 colour options are categorised as per variants, such as the single channel ABS variant sports Carribean Blue, Racing Red and Techno Grey options while the dual-channel ABS variant - a first-in-class feature - is available only in the Brooklyn Black shade.
