Latest Update: A few years ago KTM electric scooter was spied testing abroad. Since then, the automotive enthusiasts are speculating that KTM may launch its electric scooter in the Indian market. While the test mule spotted had no branding, the rider wore KTM livery that hinted it's the test mule of KTM’s e-scooter. It is being co-developed with Bajaj and likely to be sold under the sub brand of KTM, Husqvarna.
The KTM electric scooter could be launched with a maxi-scooter style front, vertically fitted headlamps in the center, and a clear windshield for a more attractive look. Considering industry reports, the upcoming KTM electric scooter will have a swingarm swingarm-mounted electric motor with cooling fins and a battery pack fitted into the floorboard. It may also have 14-inch wheels on both ends.
However, the vehicle seems comparatively larger than conventional electric scooters in India. It is expected to pack a telescopic fork at the front and a mono-shock setup at the rear. KTM can offer a single disc brake setup on both ends with ABS. There would also be two motor options: 4kW and 8kW. The more powerful motor configuration will provide a top speed of 100 km/h.
To position its e-scooter, KTM can provide 3D-printed plastic body panels and all metal parts, including the swingarm, motor housing, and pillion footpegs. Currently, very limited details about the specifications and production-ready version of the KTM electric scooter are available.
Price & Rivals
If it launches in India, the KTM e-scooter can be priced around Rs 1,50,000, ex-showroom, and rival the likes of TVS iQube, Ather 450X, and Vida V1.
