Latest Update: Hyundai Stargazer MPV was first launched in Indonesia and designed to meet the family travel needs by ensuring economical fuel cost. Hyundai sets its Stargazer MPV against Kia Carens and Maruti XL6. As per the sources, now the Korean automobile manufacturer is planning to launch its Stargazer in India. The launch timeline for this upcoming Hyundai MPV is expected around July 2025 or by the festive season this year.
Talking about the Stargazer MPV, the vehicle offers maximum comfort and classy features to make every trip enjoyable and comfortable. In Indonesia, the MPV is available six-seater with captain seats and seven-seater options. In both options, the customers have ample space to carry luggage on their family trips.
Stargazer boasts a futuristic and dynamic design visible through its curve shape. It has Horizon-type DRLs and an H-shape rear combination lamp for more charming appeal and road presence. For the interior, Hyundai has offered a fully digital cluster with a 4.2-inch TFT LCD, an 8-inch display audio system with smartphone connectivity, a wireless smartphone charger, ambient lighting, and electronic parking brakes. The MPV comes with a leatherette seat configuration as well.
The India-spec model of Stargazer MPV is expected to sport the same set of features as available in its Indonesia-spec model. Additionally, Hyundai can introduce the model with three engine options, including a 1.5-liter diesel, 1.5-liter petrol, and 1.4-liter turbo petrol motor. While all the options come mated with a 6-speed manual transmission, there could be an option to opt for IVT in 1.5-liter petrol and 7-speed DCT in 1.4-liter turbo petrol.
Expected Price & Rivals
The Hyundai Stargazer's expected price in India is Rs 10.99 to Rs 15.99 lakh, ex-showroom. After its launch between July to October 2025, the MPV will compete with Kia Carens, Maruti Ertiga, Maruti Suzuki XL6, Toyota Rumion, and Kia Syros.
The 1.5-liter, 115PS, normally aspirated petrol engine that powers the Stargazer in Indonesia is mated to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT. Hyundai may install the 115PS, 1.5-liter diesel and 140PS, 1.4-liter turbo-petrol engines from the Carens in the Stargazer if it makes it to India. Both have a 6-speed manual transmission, however the turbo-petrol has a 7-speed DCT and the diesel has a 6-speed AT.
Based on Hyundai's One Curve Design, the Stargazer stands out from other vehicles on the road. The huge rectangular grille is below the elegant horizontal DRLs up front, which are flanked by sizable LED headlights.
With plenty of sharp creases and wheel arches that are squared off, Hyundai's MPV has a good cab forward shape that is reminiscent of the new Tucson. Additionally, the quirky-looking wheels make a statement and give the design personality. At the back are tall tail lamps that are vertically stacked, adding to the cutting and creasing.
Compared to its unconventional look, the Stargazer's layered dashboard design is far more plain and understated. You get a floating touchscreen infotainment system, similar to the Grand i10 Nios, while the Carens' digital driver's display is removed. Similar to the Carens, there are two seating options: a 6-seater with captain seats or a 7-seater with bench seats for people in the middle row.
The expected price for Hyundai Stargazer is likely to be in the range of 9.60 Lakh to 17.00 Lakh.
