Yamaha has unveiled the 2025 FZ-S Fi Hybrid in India at Rs 1.44 lakh, featuring hybrid tech, a 149cc Blue Core engine, Smart Motor Generator, and advanced rider-focused innovations for a smoother and more efficient ride.
Yamaha has just unveiled its latest offering for the Indian market, the 2025 FZ-S Fi Hybrid, priced at Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom). This launch marks a significant milestone as Yamaha's first foray into hybrid motorcycles in India, signalling a shift towards more efficient and rider-friendly technology.
While maintaining the familiar, muscular design of the FZ-S series, Yamaha has subtly enhanced the aesthetics with integrated front turn signals and a modern, aeroplane-style fuel cap. However, the true innovation lies beneath the surface.
The heart of the FZ-S Fi Hybrid is its 149cc Blue Core engine, now augmented with Yamaha's Smart Motor Generator (SMG) and Stop & Start System (SSS). This hybrid setup isn't about dramatic power boosts; it's about refining the riding experience. The SMG provides a gentle electric assist during acceleration, particularly noticeable at lower speeds, resulting in a smoother, more responsive ride. The SSS, meanwhile, quietly shuts off the engine at idle, minimising fuel waste and emissions in urban traffic.
While official mileage figures are yet to be released, the proven efficiency of Yamaha’s hybrid scooters suggests that riders can expect noticeable fuel savings. This focus on efficiency, coupled with the engine's E20 fuel compatibility, aligns with the growing demand for sustainable mobility solutions.
Beyond the hybrid technology, Yamaha has thoughtfully integrated several features to enhance rider comfort and convenience. A new 4.2-inch full-colour TFT display, paired with smartphone connectivity via the Y-Connect app, provides access to turn-by-turn navigation and other useful information. The repositioned handlebar and improved switchgear aims to make daily commutes more comfortable and intuitive.
Safety is also a priority, with features like single-channel ABS, a traction control system, and a side-stand engine cut-off. These additions, along with the standard LED lighting, contribute to a safer and more confident riding experience.
"We're not just launching a new bike; we're introducing a new way to experience riding," commented Itaru Otani, Chairman of Yamaha Motor India Group. He emphasised that the FZ-S Fi Hybrid is a result of listening to customer feedback and a commitment to bringing "advanced, rider-focused innovations" to the Indian market.
The 2025 Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid is more than just a new model; it's a step towards a more refined and efficient riding future. While the Rs 10,000 premium over the standard model might seem significant, the added benefits of hybrid technology, improved fuel efficiency, and enhanced features make it a compelling proposition for riders looking for a modern and practical commuter motorcycle. It's a blend of familiar comfort and innovative technology, designed to make everyday rides smoother and more sustainable.
