The Bajaj Freedom 125, the world's first CNG motorcycle, offers cost savings, eco-friendliness, and convenience, making it ideal for fleet operators and daily commuters.
Bajaj Auto launched the Freedom 125 on July 5, 2024. The first bike was delivered to Mr. Pravin Thorat in Pune, India. Starting at Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom), the Freedom 125 comes in three variants. Bookings are open nationwide. The Freedom 125 is unique for its CNG integration, making it the world’s first motorcycle with this feature.
Comfort and convenience are emphasized with a mono-linked suspension system, a long quilted seat, LED headlamps, and digital speedometers. Bluetooth connectivity improves the rider's experience by offering seamless integration, enhancing the bike's modern appeal. Bajaj Auto is expanding its distribution network to meet high consumer demand. By making innovation accessible to more people, Bajaj continues its tradition of leading advancements in the two-wheeler industry.
Customer interest has soared, with over 30,000 inquiries in just one week. The Freedom 125 features a CNG tank range of over 200 km on 2 kg of CNG, and a 2-liter petrol tank, giving a combined range of 330 km. Its dual-fuel capability extends the range and offers flexibility in fuel usage, highlighting its advantage as a flexible fuel vehicle.
Environmentally, the Freedom 125 cuts CO2 emissions by 26.7 percent compared to traditional petrol bikes. Operating costs are up to 50 percent lower than similar petrol models, making it both eco-friendly and cost-effective. The motorcycle’s advanced safety features include a trellis frame that securely houses the CNG tank, ensuring stability and protection
Bajaj Auto’s focus on innovation is clear in the Freedom 125’s design and features. The company aims to set new benchmarks in the motorcycle industry by offering advanced technology at an affordable price. This benefits consumers and positions Bajaj as a leader in sustainable mobility solutions. In the realm of alternate mobility, Bajaj also sells the Chetak, competing with new-age manufacturers.
The Bajaj Freedom 125 meets the demand for cost-effective commuter bikes. By integrating CNG, Bajaj offers a viable alternative to petrol motorcycles, reducing emissions and operating costs. This move aligns with global sustainability trends. Bajaj projects early sales of 10,000 units for the Freedom 125, expecting to reach 40,000 units per month by the fiscal year-end.
Though no specific target group has been mentioned, the bike could be ideal for fleet operators. It's convenient, cost-effective, and quick to refuel with CNG. Its long seat can accommodate large delivery loads, and it offers a smooth ride in city conditions.
As CNG stations increase, refueling near delivery warehouses could become common. "The Bajaj Freedom 125 launch has sparked significant consumer interest due to its cost savings and greener ride compared to petrol bikes. We are working to meet this demand by expanding distribution across our dealer network. Bookings are now open nationwide," said Mr. Sarang Kanade, President of Motorcycles, Bajaj Auto Ltd.
