BMW and Mini unveil 4 exciting models for India in 2024, blending luxury, electric power, and cutting-edge design.
In a move set to redefine the Indian automotive landscape, BMW and Mini have unveiled their ambitious plans for 2024. With a focus on innovation, luxury, and sustainability, the German automotive giants are all set to introduce four new models to the Indian market.
BMW, a brand synonymous with luxury, is unveiling the new generation of its iconic 5 Series, along with the electrifying i5 variant. Meanwhile, Mini, the epitome of style and compact efficiency, is gearing up for the launch of the updated Cooper and Countryman models. As the automotive industry undergoes a transformative phase globally, BMW and Mini are poised to make a significant impact in India, offering a blend of cutting-edge technology, electric prowess, and timeless design.

Expected launch: Late 2024
BMW is set to redefine luxury with the launch of the new 5 Series in late 2024. This generation promises a larger and more comfortable design, equipped with cutting-edge technology. Featuring a twin-screen layout, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, and a 14.9-inch touchscreen, the 5 Series adopts the latest iDrive 8.5 system. Interestingly, it introduces a fully vegan interior option. The Indian market can also look forward to a long-wheelbase version to compete directly with the next-gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Expected launch: Late 2024
Born from the 5 Series, the BMW i5 brings electric sophistication to the Indian roads. With two iterations – M60 xDrive and eDrive40 – featuring an 81.2kWh battery pack, the i5 offers a powerful performance. The M60 boasts 601hp, 820Nm torque, and accelerates from 0-100kph in 3.8 seconds, while the eDrive40 focuses on efficiency with 340hp, 430Nm, and a 0-100kph time of 6 seconds. The i5 promises a substantial WLTP range, and like the 5 Series, it also adopts a twin-screen layout with the iDrive 8.5 system.

Expected launch: Early 2024
Mini makes a splash in the electric segment with the Cooper SE. Positioned as a three-door electric hatchback, it introduces a bespoke EV platform developed in collaboration with Spotlight Automotive. Maintaining Mini's iconic design, the Cooper SE boasts of circular headlights, a distinctive grille, and a unique 9.4-inch OLED infotainment screen developed with Samsung. With a 218hp motor, 330Nm torque, and a 54.2kWh battery, the Cooper SE promises a compelling blend of performance and range.
Expected price: Rs 50 lakh-65 lakh
Expected launch: Mid 2024
Mini's five-door crossover, the Countryman, receives a significant upgrade in its third generation. With increased size and improved cabin space, it offers an extra 130mm of legroom in the back. The Countryman introduces a Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), a first for Mini. Expected to launch in India with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and possibly an electric variant, the Countryman continues its international success with a mix of electric, turbo-petrol, and diesel powertrains.
