Citroen India recently upgraded its warranty by declaring that the company offers a standard warranty on its entire petrol and diesel vehicle lineup that has been extended to 3 years or 1 lakh kilometers. It will be a confidence booster for customers and follows the industry since many of its competitors have already embraced the same warranty structure.
The warranty of Citroen was only 2 years or 40,000 kilometers earlier. The new policy is a reflection of commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. This extended warranty now applies to the following models in Citroen's internal combustion engine (ICE) range:
It is important to note that the extended warranty does not apply to the Citroen eC3 hatchback. The eC3, on the other hand, provides a more extensive warranty at 3 years or 1.25 lakh kilometers. It also comes with a 7-year or 1.4 lakh kilometers warranty on the battery and 5 years or 1 lakh kilometers on the electric motor. For commercial registrations, however, the battery and motor warranties are cut down to 3 years or 1.5 lakh kilometers.
Citroen has joined the ranks of several car companies in India who, during the past few months, have changed the warranty plans they are offering. Top automobile majors like Renault, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Hyundai have also aligned a 3-year or 1 lakh kilometer warranty across all models. It is another trend that indicates that after-sales service and customer assurance is slowly catching on in the Indian automobile market.
Apart from the new warranty scheme, Citroen has also announced some good offers on several models as part of their year-end sales strategy. The current offers are as follows:
These offers remain similar to what was offered last year at the end of 2024. This is quite an attractive period for the prospective buyers.
It will definitely help Citroen get ahead in the Indian market because people who buy their first car will surely look for a reliable after-sales support, and this increase in warranty period will give them the confidence in the long-run durability and performance of their cars.
Consumer perception is the most crucial aspect in the automobile industry, and an extended warranty would significantly impact the buying decision. The customer feels that a long warranty is the sign of the manufacturer's trust in the product's quality. In this context, Citroen's decision may benefit its brand image and customer loyalty.
A new strategy is in the making to boost customer trust - 3 years or 1 lakh km for its entire line of ICE products, the brand announced recently. In comparison, eC3 has an even stronger warranty package. Still, overall, Citroen intends to drive the business by service offerings, the report suggests.
