Clear Your Challan Within 90 Days Or Get your Vehicle Seized

The traffic police just rolled out a stricter rule for unpaid fines in. If you’ve got a traffic challan, you’ve got 90 days to pay it—no excuses. Miss that deadline, and your vehicle could get impounded during routine checks. But this rule is only applicable in Gurugram, Harayana.

February 10, 2025, is the cutoff to clear all old unpaid fines. After that, officers can seize your vehicle under Section 167(8) of the Motor Vehicles Act if you’re caught with pending challans. To spread the word, Deputy Commissioner Virendra Vij has ordered traffic teams to run awareness campaigns alongside enforcement.

Gurugram cops issue around 4,500 challans every day. About 3,000 of those come from the city’s surveillance cameras, while traffic officers hand out the remaining 1,500 manually. The goal? Push people to pay fines faster and shrink the backlog of unpaid tickets. So, check those pending challans ASAP—don’t say we didn’t warn you!
