Hero MotoCorp updates the Splendor Plus with OBD2B emission compliance, resulting in a slight price hike while retaining its proven design, engine, and commuter-friendly features.
Hero MotoCorp has given its immensely popular commuter motorcycle, the Splendor Plus, a crucial update to meet the more stringent OBD2B emission norms. This latest regulatory compliance has led to a marginal price revision across the board, with all three variants witnessing a hike of ₹1,750. As a result, the base variant now starts at ₹78,926 (ex-showroom), while the top-end variant, featuring additional features, is priced at ₹85,501.
Despite this regulatory update, the Splendor Plus remains visually and mechanically unchanged. Hero has retained the familiar styling, feature set, and the trusted powertrain that has long been a favourite in Indian households. At its core, the motorcycle continues to be powered by the same tried-and-tested 97.2 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This motor delivers a peak output of 8 bhp and 8.05 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth-shifting 4-speed gearbox, one of the key reasons behind its consistent popularity in the commuter segment.
Built on a rugged steel tubular double cradle frame, the Splendor Plus has always been celebrated for its durability, low maintenance, and excellent fuel economy, attributes that have helped Hero MotoCorp dominate the entry-level motorcycle space for decades. The suspension setup comprises conventional telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear, ensuring a balance of comfort and stability ideal for urban and semi-urban roads.
In terms of hardware, the bike employs drum brakes at both ends, which keeps costs in check and suits the utilitarian nature of the machine. All variants come equipped with alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres as standard. While the base variants stick to essential features, the top-spec trim elevates the package with the addition of an LED headlamp and a Bluetooth-enabled semi-digital instrument cluster, enhancing both functionality and appeal for younger buyers.
The Splendor Plus competes in the hotly contested 100cc commuter segment, where it locks horns with the TVS Star City Plus, Bajaj Platina 100, and Honda Shine 100. While most rivals offer similar performance figures and economy, the Splendor Plus continues to enjoy the trust of millions, backed by Hero’s widespread service network and long-standing reputation in the commuter segment.
With the updated OBD2B compliance, Hero has ensured the Splendor Plus remains future-ready while continuing to deliver the same value-centric proposition it always has. For budget-conscious buyers looking for a reliable, efficient, and easy-to-maintain motorcycle, the Splendor Plus continues to be a rock-solid choice.
