Kia EV3: Kia Motors has recently the first teaser of its upcoming electric SUV, Kia EV3. The electric SUV is set to make its global debut on 23 May 2024. Kia EV3 will be positioned below the automaker’s flagship car Kia EV9. The company has been observed tight-lipped about the India launch of the Kia EV3.
While the details about the upcoming SUV are scarce yet, we can get an idea of the design from the teaser images. The E-SUV is expected to come with a modern and elegant design that will follow Kia’s signature design language. In the teaser, the SUV has been seen with squared-off fenders and a tailgate which will provide the E-SUV with a contemporary design. Another noticeable design element of the Kia EV3 is its signature “Star Map” lighting which comes with unique distinctive light patterns.
The Kia EV3 is expected to derive some of its design elements from the flagship Kia EV9. As stated by the automaker, the reason behind the introduction of the Kia EV3 is to make its electric vehicle portfolio more accessible to its customers.
The Kia EV3 is based on the same E-GMP platform utilized for other electric vehicles of Kia and Hyundai. This is the same platform used for the Hyundai Ioniq lineup. As seen in the teaser image, the EV3 will come with a skateboard architecture which will enable a flat floor for the convenience of the rear passengers.
Kia EV3 will get the same set of features as its other electric siblings. It will come loaded with features such as a large infotainment system, wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, V2L charging and multiple airbags. The upcoming electric Kia will expectedly come with the same electric motor and battery pack, but with varying power figures which may be lesser than its bigger siblings.
The automaker says that the Kia EV3 will fill the gap of an affordable electric sub-compact SUV in its portfolio. The brand seeks to make its electric vehicle lineup more accessible with the Kia EV3.
The Kia EV3 global premiere is scheduled for May 23, 2024, at 19:00 KST which will be live-streamed on Kia’s Official YouTube handle. The electric SUV will also be launched in other major International markets by April 2025.
Kia's unveiling of the EV3 heralds a promising addition to its electric lineup, promising modern design elements and features akin to its upscale siblings. Positioned below the EV9, it aims to democratize electric mobility, tapping into the growing demand for affordable EV options. With its debut imminent, Kia appears poised to make waves in the electric SUV segment, offering both style and substance to eco-conscious drivers.
