Kia EV6 Recall: Software Update Fixes 12V Battery Issue | Kia India’s 2023 Model Alert
Kia India recalls 1,380 EV6 SUVs (2022-2023) for a free ICCU software update to resolve 12V battery charging issues. Owners notified directly. Learn about the fix and the new EV6 facelift’s 650km range.
For 1,380 EV6 electric SUVs produced between March 3, 2022, and April 14, 2023, Kia India has announced a voluntary recall. The purpose of the recall is to improve the charging and functionality of the 12V auxiliary battery by fixing a software update in the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). Important parts including the audio system, wipers, and lighting are powered by this battery.
Kia will contact the owners of the impacted cars directly to arrange a time for the software update. This recall has also been communicated to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). The EV6 was recalled for the same reason in 2024, thus this is not the first recall.
At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, Kia India unveiled the updated EV6, which has an 84 kWh battery pack and can go 650 km on a single charge for the rear-wheel-drive option. The new model can charge from 0% to 80% in just 18 minutes thanks to its compatibility for ultra-fast 350 kW DC charging.
