Discover the all-new Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 SUV, set to launch in India on January 9, 2025. Explore its advanced features, luxurious design, and electric performance as it redefines the EV segment.
Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the addition of a new variant to its all-electric EQS SUV lineup in India. Set to debut on January 9, 2025, the new EQS 450 SUV will be sold alongside the existing EQS 580 SUV, offering a fresh option for luxury EV enthusiasts in the country.
The EQS 450 SUV brings subtle yet distinct changes to the lineup. While it retains the core design elements of the EQS range, it is expected to feature a unique design package, including revised bumpers and exclusive 21-inch alloy wheels. Mercedes-Benz might also introduce variant-specific exterior paint options to further differentiate the 450 from its sibling.
Inside, the cabin design remains consistent with the hallmark luxury of the EQS range. The centerpiece is the cutting-edge MBUX Hyper-screen, which spans the width of the dashboard, integrating advanced connectivity and infotainment features. Unlike the seven-seat EQS 580 SUV, the EQS 450 is a five-seater, trading the third row for additional second-row comfort. The second-row seats retain their power-adjustable functionality, allowing for sliding and reclining to enhance passenger comfort.
The EQS 450 SUV features a single-motor rear-wheel-drive configuration, unlike the dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup of the 580. Its electric motor delivers a peak output of 355 bhp and 568 Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in a brisk 6.7 seconds.
Despite sharing the same 122 kWh battery pack as the EQS 580 SUV, the EQS 450 offers a longer driving range. With a WLTP-rated range of 671 km, it surpasses the 580’s 610 km, making it a compelling choice for customers prioritizing range.
Mercedes-Benz is expected to price the EQS 450 SUV around ₹1.30 crore (ex-showroom). This makes it a slightly more accessible option compared to the 580, broadening the appeal of the EQS SUV lineup in India.
With the EQS 450 SUV and the upcoming launch of the production Electric G-Class, Mercedes-Benz is reinforcing its commitment to the Indian luxury EV market. Keep an eye out for further updates as the launch date approaches.
