The Indian two-wheeler market is one of the largest and most competitive in the world. Every month, millions of bikes are sold across the country, catering to different segments and preferences of the customers. In this article, we will look at the top-selling bikes in India in August 2023, based on the data from various sources.
The Hero Splendor Plus is the most popular bike in India and has been for a long time. The bike offers a simple and reliable package that appeals to the masses. It has a 97.2 cc single-cylinder engine that delivers 8.36 PS of power and 8.05 Nm of torque. It also claims a fuel efficiency of 83.2 kmpl, making it one of the most economical bikes in the market.
The bike is priced from Rs. 74,491 (ex-showroom) and is available in four variants: Kick Start Drum Brake Alloy Wheel, Self Start Drum Brake Alloy Wheel, Self Start Drum Brake Alloy Wheel i3S and Self Start Disc Brake Alloy Wheel i3S.
In August 2023, Hero sold 2,38,340 units of the Splendor Plus, making it the top-selling bike in the country. The bike has a loyal fan base that trusts its durability and performance. The Splendor Plus also faces minimal competition in its segment, as most other manufacturers have shifted their focus to higher displacement bikes.
The TVS Jupiter is the second most popular bike in India, and the best-selling scooter in the country. The Jupiter is a well-rounded scooter that offers a lot of features and variety to customers. It has a 109.7 cc single-cylinder engine that produces 7.47 PS of power and 8.4 Nm of torque. It also boasts a fuel efficiency of 62 kmpl, which is impressive for a scooter. The Jupiter is priced from Rs. 73,240 (ex-showroom) and comes in five variants: Sheet Metal Wheel, Standard, ZX, ZX Disc and Classic.
The TVS Jupiter sold 1,76,432 units in August 2023, making it the second-best-selling bike in the country. The Jupiter has managed to challenge the dominance of the Honda Activa, which has been the leader of the scooter segment for a long time. The Jupiter offers more value for money, more features and more options than the Activa, making it a very sound proposition for those who want a reliable, no-nonsense scooter.
The Bajaj Pulsar 150 is the third most popular bike in India, and the best-selling bike in the 150 cc segment. The Pulsar 150 is a sporty commuter that offers a good balance of power, mileage and style. It has a 149.5 cc single-cylinder engine that churns out 14 PS of power and 13.4 Nm of torque.
It also claims a fuel efficiency of 47.5 kmpl, which is decent for a bike of its class. The Pulsar 150 is priced from Rs. 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes in three variants: Neon BS6, Single Disc BS6 and Twin Disc BS6.
The Bajaj Pulsar 150 sold 1,12,345 units in August 2023, making it the third-best-selling bike in the country. The Pulsar 150 has been a consistent performer for Bajaj, as it caters to a large segment of customers who want a sporty yet practical bike for daily use. The Pulsar 150 also faces less competition in its segment, as most other manufacturers have either moved up to higher displacement bikes or down to lower displacement bikes.
Apart from these three bikes, there are some other notable bikes that have performed well in August 2023. These include:
The Indian two-wheeler market is a dynamic and diverse one, where different bikes cater to different needs and preferences of the customers. The top-selling bikes in India in August 2023 reflect this diversity, as they range from commuters to scooters to sporty bikes.
However, some common factors that influence the sales of these bikes are reliability, value for money, features and brand loyalty. These factors are likely to remain important in the future as well, as the Indian two-wheeler market continues to grow and evolve.
