Tata Curvv Just Dragged a Giant Plane Like It’s No Big Deal

Tata Motors’ new Curvv SUV just pulled off something wild: it yanked a 48-ton Boeing 737 airplane for 100 meters—and now it’s officially in the India Book of Records. Yep, you read that right. A petrol-powered SUV dragging a massive passenger jet.
The stunt went down at the Al ESL Hangar in Thiruvananthapuram, where Tata decided to show off the Curvv’s muscle. They used the manual gearbox version, pumped the front tires to 32 PSI and the rears to 30 PSI, and let the 1.2-litre Hyperion GDi engine (123 bhp, 225 Nm torque) do the heavy lifting. Spoiler: it worked. Tata shared the clip on social media with a cheeky “Unleashing dominance!” caption.
Let’s Look At the Source of Power
- The Curvv also borrows the Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine (119 bhp, 170 Nm) with manual or automatic gearbox options.
- Diesel fans get a new 1.5-litre Kyrotec engine (117 bhp, 260 Nm)—the first in its class with a diesel automatic.
Oh, and that automatic? It comes with paddle shifters and “Multi-mode Regen” (fancy talk for better control). Tata’s flexing hard here.
