Tata Safari and Harrier, top performers in Global NCAP tests, recognized for their exceptional safety ratings in the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign.

Tata Safari and Harrier Earn Global NCAP Safer Choice Award

Tata Motors is know for safety and almost all of their models recieves 4 to 5 stars in Global NCAP. Today  Global NCAP honored the automaker with its Safer Choice Award for the Tata Safari and Harrier. This recognition is neccsasary for all automakers that shows their commitment for highest safety standards for vehicles sold in India.

Both the Tata Safari and Harrier achieved five-star ratings in Global NCAP’s adult and child occupant protection tests last year, marking them as top performers in the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign. These models not only excelled in the standard safety tests but also scored the highest overall in the campaign, solidifying their place as benchmarks for vehicle safety in India.

In addition to these impressive ratings, Tata Motors voluntarily submitted both models for further Safer Choice conformity tests, focusing on advanced safety technologies. The Safari and Harrier met the stringent performance and volume requirements for Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), speed assistance, and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) systems, ensuring they are equipped with cutting-edge safety features.

Safer Choice Award Qualification

First introduced in 2018, Global NCAP’s Safer Choice Award is recognized as one of the highest accolades in vehicle safety. The award's protocols were updated in August 2024 to reflect evolving safety standards. To qualify for the Safer Choice Award, a vehicle must meet several rigorous criteria, including:

  • Achieving a five-star rating for adult occupant protection.
  • Achieving a five-star rating for child occupant protection.
  • Offering a speed assistance system and passing Global NCAP’s full test criteria.
  • Providing AEB (both car-to-car and vulnerable road user protection) and meeting UN regulatory requirements.
  • Offering BSD as a stand-alone option and meeting Global NCAP’s performance standards.

Industry Leaders Commend Tata Motors

David Ward, President of the Towards Zero Foundation, praised Tata Motors for their ongoing dedication to vehicle safety, saying, “Tata Motors’ commitment to safety is exemplary. We are delighted to present them with the Safer Choice Award for the Safari and Harrier. This recognition highlights their leadership in achieving higher levels of protection for both occupants and vulnerable road users, which is central to Global NCAP’s mission.”

Mohan Savarkar, Vice President and Chief Product Officer of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, expressed pride in receiving the award: “We are proud to receive Global NCAP’s Safer Choice Award for our flagship SUVs, the Tata Safari and Harrier. Our commitment to safety is embedded in every vehicle we produce, and we’ve set a new standard with a completely five-star-rated SUV lineup in India. This recognition underscores our mission to prioritize safety, innovation, and customer well-being.”

Tata Motors’ achievement reflects its dedication to enhancing road safety in India and continues to raise the bar for safety standards in the country’s automotive industry.
