Gogoro, the Taiwanese electric scooter brand, is all set to launch its first product in India, the Gogoro CrossOver. The CrossOver is a rugged and versatile scooter that can cater to both B2B and B2C segments. It is expected to be launched on December 12,
Key highlights
Adaptable Design: Gogoro CrossOver offers cargo-centric features, a steel frame, and customizable mounts for practicality.
Seamless Battery Swapping: With two swappable batteries, it ensures quick 6-second exchanges at Gogoro stations for uninterrupted productivity.
Strategic Indian Entry: Gogoro's debut scooter made in India signifies their substantial $1.5 billion investment in Maharashtra, focusing on expanding EV infrastructure and fleet solutions.
The CrossOver is the newest addition to Gogoro's international portfolio, unveiled in October 2023. It is also the first Gogoro scooter to be manufactured in India, at the company's plant in Aurangabad. Gogoro has committed investments worth $1.5 billion (approx. Rs 12,300 crore) in Maharashtra, as part of its ambitious plans to expand its battery swapping network and fleet management solutions in India.
The CrossOver is designed to carry a lot of cargo, with multiple options for mounting racks, panniers and top cases. It has a steel tubular frame, a wheelbase of 1,400 mm, a flat floorboard area and a foldable or removable pillion seat. The scooter also features a protruding LED headlight with a metal bracket, telescopic front forks, dual rear shock absorbers, 12-inch wheels and disc brakes on both ends.
The CrossOver is powered by a liquid-cooled motor that delivers 7 kW (9.51 PS) of peak power and 26.6 Nm of maximum torque. It uses two swappable battery packs that weigh around 10 kg each and can be exchanged in just 6 seconds at any Gogoro station. This ensures maximum uptime and productivity for gig workers and delivery partners.
The expected price of the Gogoro CrossOver is around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with other electric scooters in the market such as Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X and Simple One. The CrossOver will also be supplied to Gogoro's B2B partners.
The Gogoro CrossOver is a promising electric scooter that can appeal to both businesses and consumers with its performance, practicality and design. It also marks the entry of Gogoro in India, which is one of the largest and fastest-growing markets for electric mobility in the world.
