Triumph's budget-friendly 400 Range, including the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, experiences its first price increase, marking a shift from its initial competitive pricing strategy.

Triumph Motorcycles introduced its Triumph 400 range approximately nine months ago. This move marked the company's foray into more affordable, mass-market offerings, with the Speed 400 leading the charge, swiftly followed by the Scrambler 400X.

Price Hike Announcement

  • Breaking its trend of maintaining competitive pricing, Triumph has announced its first-ever price hike for these popular bikes.
  • The Speed 400 was initially launched at an introductory price of Rs. 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom), with an even lower price of Rs. 2.23 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 10,000 buyers.
  • However, Triumph and its partner Bajaj Auto have now implemented a price increase of Rs. 1,500, effective immediately.
  • This hike applies uniformly to both the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X, affecting their sole standard variants.
  • As a result of this adjustment, the new pricing for the Speed 400 starts from Rs. 2,34,497 (ex-showroom), while the Scrambler 400X now begins at Rs. 2,64,496 (ex-showroom).

After the success of Triumph 400 range, the brand is now getting ready to expand its offerings within this popular platform by introducing more body styles.

Technical Specifications

Triumph 400 houses a 398cc single-cylinder DOHC 4V liquid-cooled engine, capable of producing almost 40 bhp and 38 Nm of torque. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, both the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X offer unparalleled performance within their segments.

Competitive Landscape

While the Speed 400 competes with sporty neo-retro offerings such as the Honda CB300R and the Hero Mavrick 440, its performance places it in competition against rivals like KTM 390 Duke, TVS Apache RTR 310, and BMW G 310 R.

On the other hand, the Scrambler 400X compete with competitors like the RE Himalayan and the KTM 390 Adventure.

CarBike360 Says

With the given price hike, Triumph 400 range continues to represent a competitive position in the Indian motorcycle market, offering a touch of performance, style, and value that resonates with enthusiasts across the country.
