Volvo prepares to launch the EX60 electric SUV in 2026, featuring a new scalable platform, advanced computing technology, and innovative mega-casting production methods.

Volvo’s All-New Electric SUV: EX60 to be Launched Globally in 2026

Volvo is gearing up to introduce its latest electric vehicle, the EX60 SUV, in 2026. The EX60 SUV will mark a significant milestone for the Swedish automaker, being the first to utilize an entirely new, highly scalable platform equipped with advanced computing technology. The EX60 is positioned to be a crucial component in Volvo's electrification strategy, serving as the electric counterpart to the best-selling XC60 family SUV.

While Volvo has only revealed the name of the new SUV, industry experts anticipate that its design will incorporate elements from the smaller EX30 and the recently updated XC90. The EX60 will be underpinned by the SPA3 architecture, an extensively upgraded version of the SPA2 platform used in the flagship EX90 SUV.

Key features of the upcoming Volvo EX60:

  • Built on the new SPA3 flexible platform
  • Similar in size to the current XC60
  • Utilizes innovative mega-casting technology for production

One of the most notable advancements in the EX60's production will be the use of mega-casting technology. This innovative approach allows entire sections of the vehicle to be created as a single part, streamlining the manufacturing process and potentially reducing production costs.

The new SUV will also feature the Volvo Cars Superset technology stack, a comprehensive system managing vehicle functions and operations. This hardware and software integration will expectedly enhance the EV's overall performance and user experience.

Currently, Volvo's electric offerings in India include the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge. The introduction of the EX60 will expand the company's global EV lineup, though launch plans for specific markets have not yet been announced.
