The new Volvo S90 has a sharper exterior design compared to previous models, similar to the recently introduced XC90 facelift in the Indian market. The SUV features an updated front fascia with a larger grille and angular chrome slats
Volvo, a renowned luxury car manufacturer, has unveiled its new S90 facelift globally. The flagship luxury sedan from Volvo underwent a comprehensive overhaul and has been the second major change since its launch in 2016. The updated S90 sedan packs added features and a new-generation user interface. Let's explore more about the facelifted version of the Volvo S90.
The new Volvo S90 has a sharper exterior design compared to previous models, similar to the recently introduced XC90 facelift in the Indian market. The SUV features an updated front fascia with a larger grille and angular chrome slats. The headlamps are slimmer and sharper, packing signature Thor's Hammer LED DRLs with Matrix-design LED technology.
Volvo has also introduced a new, sculpted bonnet with a restyled front bumper, providing a fresh look. It features newly designed LED taillights on the rear, with the same patterns as the front DRLs. The sedan also receives new diamond-cut alloy wheels.
The interior looks similar to previous versions of the S90 sedan, while it now has a new 11.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The new infotainment screen features an updated user interface that can be upgraded with over-the-air software updates.
Volvo has also improved the sound insulation in its new S90 and introduced a new adaptive suspension to make the ride even more comfortable. Other features like Pilot Assist have also been offered to allow buyers to experience autonomous driving technology.
The Volvo S90 facelift is powered by a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) motor and a mild-hybrid four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The PHEV unit assures up to 80 km of ULTP all-electric range.
It is expected that Volvo will introduce the S90 facelift in India to replace the existing iteration of this flagship Volvo sedan. The outgoing model is available for Rs 68.25 lakh and is paired with a 2.0-liter petrol engine capable of delivering 246 bhp and 350 Nm of torque.
This Volvo sedan is available with an FWD option and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds, achieving a top speed of 180 km/h. The Volvo S90 in India competes with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, and Audi A6.
According to available details, the Volvo S90 facelift is expected to go on sale in China by the end of this year, followed by launches in other markets.
