Yamaha will provide advanced features, including hybrid technology and a TFT display on the FZ-X 150cc commuter bike, in a development that emphasizes modernization for the brand in Indian motorcycles. The new model is supposed to be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, taking place next week.
Yamaha had previously launched hybrid technology in the Indian two-wheeler segment with its Fascino and Ray ZR scooters. Having already gained huge success through its previous launches, the FZ-X will feature an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) system. The technology will be aimed at providing a small electric boost for better overall performance of the bike. The present air-cooled, 149cc single-cylinder motor produces 12.4 horses and 13.3 Nm of torque, and hybrid technology is to provide a few more horsepower/torque.
Hybrid technology will also bring some such features with itself, including an improvement in the performance. Features include:
Hybrid tech aside, the FZ-X will also boast a new color TFT display that promises to take the riding experience to the next level. This display will include:
These will likely be offered only in the flagship version of the FZ-X and similar to Yamaha's new features for the R15 series.
The existing Yamaha FZ-X price falls in the bracket of ₹1.37 lakh to ₹1.41 lakh. With the launch at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, with hybrid technology and extra features, there will probably be a price hike.
Besides the update of the FZ-X, it is also the turn of another model in this lineup, where Yamaha will allegedly update its version of the FZ-S but with less comprehensive changes, hence more cosmetic as opposed to meaningful. The colour options for this model will likely include a flashy grey/cyan combination, similar in design language like the MT-15 and the MT-03.
Yamaha's latest commuter motorcycle, FZ-X, is scheduled to be launched at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. Yamaha aims to capture tech-savvy commuters seeking efficiency and connectivity with the new display features and hybrid technology in its two-wheelers. Since the competitors are also working on this technology, Yamaha is being proactive to be the first leader in the hybrid technology for two-wheelers.
