Yamaha is bringing back its iconic RX 100 motorcycle on January 14, 2025! This legendary bike combines classic design with modern technology for an exciting riding experience.
Yes, you’ve read it right. The legendary Yamaha RX 100 is on its way to hit the Indian roads very soon. According to the latest reports, Yamaha is preparing to reintroduce one of the most iconic motorcycles in January 2025 - The RX 100. This motorcycle was first introduced in the 1980s and quickly captured the heart of motorcycle communities in India. Now, the relaunch of this iconic bike isn’t just about nostalgia, it's about representing a new chapter in motorcycling history. So, without any delay, let’s have an overview of the new model and its launching details.
The RX 100 first hit the roads in 1985 and quickly became a sensation in the lightweight 100cc motorcycle segment. In the mid-1980-90s, this bike was often associated with youthful rebellion and has maintained a loyal fan base that flavors its nostalgic value. This cultural significance makes this bike a standout model among other 100cc motorcycles.
Additionally, this motorcycle was also the favorite option for those who love to modify and customise their motorcycles. During the RX 100 era, many owners used to modify their RX 100 for personalised aesthetics and to create a unique identity for their motorcycle. This culture of customisation contributed to making this bike a canvas of creativity, which ultimately made it a unique trend for a long time.
However, after years of success, Yamaha discontinued this bike due to some reasons in March 1996. One of the primary reasons was the stricter emission norms known as Bharat Stage (BS), which we can see on vehicles today as BS 4, BS 5, and BS 6. RX 100 was not compliant with these standards because of its two-stroke engine which typically emits higher levels of pollutants compared to its four-stroke counterparts. Consequently, the company faced a lot of challenges in modifying the RX 100 to comply with these norms without compromising its performance and appeal.
Now after 28 years of anticipation and speculation, Yamaha is set to make a historic relaunch of the legendary RX 100. According to the reports, the official launch of this model is scheduled for January 14, 2025, and motorcycle lovers are eagerly excited about this comeback.
The new RX 100 will retain its classic shape while adding modern elements. However, the new model has not been revealed by the company yet but the bike is expected to include a compact frame, a modern-styled fuel tank, a classic flat seat, and minimalist side panels to maintain the nostalgic view. Additionally, the sleek bodywork and these subtle updates are expected to capture the attention of today’s Instagram and Snapchat generation.
This motorcycle will be equipped with a newly designed 98cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, Gasoline 7 Port Torque Induction engine that will comply with today’s emission norms like BS VI. This engine produces a max power of approximately 11 PS (10.85 bhp) at 7500 rpm and a max torque of 10.39 Nm at 6500 rpm.
The all-new RX 100 is expected to be equipped with a digital instrument console for speedometer, odometer, and other necessary indicators. Suspensions will include telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Coming to the braking system, it is not sure but it might include a front disc brake and drum braking mechanism on the rear. It is also expected that the lights in the new RX 100 will be all LEDs.
The new RX 100 is expected to be priced at approximately Rs 1 lakh, as the company has not yet revealed the official pricing for this bike but prices are expected to be revealed in January 2025. But, the official relaunch date of this bike is 14th January 2025, and bookings will start soon afterward.
Yamaha is making an exciting revival for this acclaimed model in Jan 2025. The RX 100 lovers are awaited and excited very much for the launch. However, different rumors are also buzzing all around about the expectations from the motorcycle. Now, just get ready for the rebirth of a legend—the Yamaha RX 100 is on its way again!
