As an entry level model in BMW's X series of SUVs, the X1 comes decently equipped with features. Some of its comfort & convenience features include dual zone climate control AC, ambient mood lighting, 40:20:40 split folding rear seats, panoramic sunroof, electric driver seat with memory function, electric lumbar support adjustment for driver and co-driver seats, a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster, BMW Operating System 8.0, wireless charging, wireless smartphone integration, digital key with NFC function, etc.
On the infotainment front, the X1 offers a 10.7 inch touchscreen system with 12 speaker Harman Kardon audio system and digital amplifier.
Taking about the safety, it comes embedded with Electric Parking Brake with auto hold, 6 airbags, traction control with ESP, TPMS, etc. Moreover, parking assistance features like Active Park Distance Control, Reversing Assistant, Lateral Parking Aid, etc along with driver assistance features like Lane Departure Warning, Front collision warning with braking, Evasion Assistant, etc.
Engine & Transmission
BMW X1 comes with two engine options. These include a 1995cc 4 cylinder twin turbo diesel engine and a 1499cc 3 cylinder twin turbo petrol engine. The diesel engine comes mated to a 7-Speed Steptronic Transmission with shift paddles. The petrol engine gets 2 transmission option, first being a 7-Speed Steptronic Transmission with shift paddles and second being a 7-Speed Steptronic Transmission with double clutch.
The diesel engine is capable of producing 150 PS of max power and 360 Nm of max torque. The petrol engine can generate 136 PS of max power and 230 Nm of max torque. Moreover, the diesel motor can propel the X1 from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.9 sec and the petrol motor can do the same in just 9.2 sec.
Variants & Colours
BMW offers 5 colour options in X1. These include Storm Bay metallic, Space Silver Metallic, Black Sapphire, Alpine White and M Portimao Blue.
Segment & Rivals
Being the entry level vehicle in BMW's X lineup, the X1 rivals the likes of Audi Q3, Mercedes Benz GLA, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Toyota Fortuner Legender, and BMW's own iX1.
