With just enough design influences from the rest of the Land Rover family, the Defender's cabin strikes a balance between luxury and functionality, making brand familiarity easy. The rear seats can be folded to create a much larger cargo bay, but those who want to transport people and equipment might want to consider the larger Land Rover Discovery or get a roof-top cargo carrier. Although the longer 130 model has more storage space when the third row is stowed, there isn't much room for equipment when it is in use.

The Defender retains the classic boxy silhouette that is popularly known for its legacy. A larger 11.4-inch display is an option, but the Defender's dashboard features a 10-inch touchscreen entertainment system that uses a new Land Rover interface called Pivi Pro. The Defender's system uses a single touchscreen rather than two, provides faster response times, and can manage over-the-air software updates for upcoming releases, in contrast to the Touch Pro Duo interface found in the rest of the Land Rover lineup. Standard features include a six-speaker audio, an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, an in-dash navigation system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher-end Defenders come equipped with a digital gauge cluster and a head-up display, and Meridian sound systems with 10 or 14 speakers are offered.
