Testers mentioned that the passenger’s as well as driver’s knee offers marginal protection as they could by harmed if came in contact with structures behind dashboard. This rating is almost similar to the crash test conducted for the then new pre-facelift 2019 Ignis. Maruti Ignis was earlier tested for the African market by Global NCAP, where it scored an average 3-star rating. But then it was not tested to check safety assist systems or pedestrian protection and the side impact as well.hh

Under this test, driver’s head protection was weak, abdomen protection checked was adequate, pelvic protection rated good while chest protection was declared poor.Concurrently, the new side pole impact test was not conducted for the Ignis as it was not ready for the test as it lacks head protection. Ignis is not in accordance with pedestrian safety norms, It also lack ESC as standard ,both of which comes under GNCAP protocols.
