Additionally, the increased size gives it the most boot space at 528 litres and the best shoulder room at 1,765mm. The launch of the new Verna has been highly anticipated since the introduction of the Fluidic Verna in 2011. The design of the new Verna is distinct, with a sleek, futuristic look and LED lights that stretch across the width of the car.

Engine and Performance

The all-new Hyundai Verna will be available in four different trims, namely EX, S, SX, and SX (O), with seven different colour options to choose from. The car is equipped with two engine options, a 1.5l MPi petrol engine that is naturally aspirated and produces 115hp & 143.8 Nm, and a sportier 1.5 l Turbo GDi petrol engine that produces 160hp & 253 Nm.

The latter engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT transmission. The mileage figures for both engines are claimed to be 18.6 kmpl (MT) and 19.6 kmpl (IVT) for the former, and 20 kmpl(MT) and 20.6 kmpl (DCT) for the latter. The Verna will not be offered a diesel engine.

The power figures for Verna's engines are better than its competitors such as the VW Virtus, Skoda Slavia, and Honda City, making it a popular choice among buyers. The turbo GDi engine also comes in two exclusive colour options, Atlas White with a black roof and Fiery Red with a black top. The Verna will be manufactured at Hyundai's Chennai plant and will be exported from India.

Safety Features of the New Hyundai Verna

The all-new Verna will have standard safety features including 6 airbags, all 4 disc brakes, and ABS with EBD across all variants. The car will have a McPherson strut-type suspension in the front and a torsion beam axle with a vertical shock absorber in the rear.

Similar to the new Honda City, some variants of the Verna will offer Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features such as front and rear radar detectors and a front camera, which is not provided by competitors. The ADAS supports the driver with features like Forward Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane-keep warning and assist blind spot warning, and even a safe exit warning to ensure the driver's safety.
