A myriad of electric Vehicles are expected to make their debut in India next month at the Asia’s largest automotive show
Auto Expo 2023 is scheduled to be commenced from 16th of January after almost 3 years. A myriad of electric Vehicles are expected to make their debut in India next month at the Asia’s largest automotive show.
Let’s take a look at the top 5 Electric cars that are expected to make debut at Auto Expo 2023:
Hyundai's flagship EV the Ioniq 5 will be launched officially in the Indian market at Auto Expo 2023. The Ioniq 5 for India is going to be assembled locally using CKD kits at Hyundai's facilities in Chennai and bookings for the EV will open on the 20th of December. The Ioniq 5 is paired with a large 72.6kWh battery pack of a range of 460km that has also been associated to the Kia EV6. The larger battery pack version of the Ioniq 5 comes in both single motor (RWD - 218bhp) and dual-motor (AWD - 302bhp) guises. Hyundai is also offering A smaller 58kWh battery pack with a range of 383km and relatively less powerful motors.
Hyundai's second EV on this list has now been facelifted as Kona EV electric SUV. The EV is scheduled to make debut at the Expo and features an updated front and rear end, it has got new alloy wheels, along with an updated interior as compared to the one selling in India currently.
The Kona EV is mated with two battery pack packages a 64kWh and a - 39.2kWh. The lower-spec 39.2kWh pack is of the range of 304km and a single 136hp motor is also being offered. The larger 64kWh battery pack version of the Kona EV is offering a range of 483km and rises the power to 201bhp. The lower-spec Kona which is expected to be little higher than the current vehicle's Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom) price is expected to be launched for Indian market.
In Tata's sub-10 lakh portfolio Tata Altroz is the only vehicle that has not procreated an EV till date. However, for the first time at Auto Expo 2023 when Tata is expected to take the lid off the Altroz EV. It is expected that The Altroz EV will be given tha samethe battery pack and motor as the Nexon EV Max and will be offering a range of over 400 kilometres on a single charge.
### 4) MG Air EV
The Chinese-owned British carmaker is offering the second all-electric EV. The MG Air EV is identical to the Wuling Air EV currently selling in Indonesia and measures under 3 meters.However, In comparison with the Wuling microcar, MG is speculated to get the batteries from Tata AutoComp for the India-spec car.
The Wuling Air EV sold internationally is packed with two battery pack options - 26.7kWh (300km range and 17.3kWh (200km range). The MG Air EV will compete with the likes of Tata's Tiago EV.
French carmaker Citroen very recently launched the C3 hatchback in India. The electric vehicle Citroen eC3 will be powered by a 30.2kWh battery pack that will be offering a range of around 350km. The Auto Expo 2023 & The EV Surge Auto Expo is returning after a long gap of almost 3 years. Auto Expo is expecting to showcase a myriad of EVs in both the two-wheeler and four-wheeler segments. While the 5 electric cars listed here are the ones with the most hype behind them, we expect Auto Expo 2023 to bring with it a host of even more electric vehicles as India is embarking on the EV revolution.
