Bajaj's sales data for March 2023 highlights Pulsar's dominance in market.

Bajaj bikes and scooters have remained popular among Indian consumers for decades, owing to their affordability, reliability, and fuel efficiency. With a diverse range of models, Bajaj has maintained a strong presence in the Indian two-wheeler market.

Bajaj Auto Limited witnessed remarkable demand for its two-wheeler range in the domestic market, while its export sales showed a significant decline, with most models exhibiting a year-on-year decrease.

The company's total sales in March 2023 amounted to 233,827 units, down from 247,933 units sold in March 2022. However, there was a month-on-month growth in total sales, which had previously stood at 218,975 units in February 2023.

Bajaj 2V Domestic sales 2023

The Pulsar series holds a dominant market share of 68.73 percent, with the 125cc variant garnering the most attention. In the previous month, the company sold 60,352 units of the Pulsar 125cc, representing a year-on-year growth of 52.07 percent from 39,687 units sold in March 2022.

Meanwhile, the Pulsar 200cc (17,156 units) and Pulsar 250cc (9,144 units) observed a YoY increase in sales, whereas the Pulsar 150cc recorded a decline in sales, with only 13,600 units sold in the last month compared to 18,044 units sold in March 2022, marking a YoY de-growth of 24.63 percent.

The Bajaj Platina saw an increase in sales of 27.30 percent YoY, with 34,311 units sold in March 2023 compared to 26,952 units in March 2022, and currently holds a 23.52 percent share in the market.

On the other hand, Bajaj CT experienced a de-growth of 15.93 percent, with sales declining to 4,381 units in March 2023 from 5,211 units sold in March 2022. Among the CT series, the CT110cc recorded a significant drop in sales of 52.29 percent to 2,486 units, whereas CT125cc sales stood at 1,895 units.

Bajaj Chetak

Bajaj Chetak's electric scooter sales witnessed a substantial increase of 249.30 percent on a year-on-year basis, with 3,514 units sold in March 2023 compared to 1,006 units sold in March 2022, resulting in a volume growth of 2,508 units. The company is currently developing the 2023 version of the Bajaj Chetak, which is expected to have an increased range, approximately 18 km more than the current model.

Bajaj Avenger and Dominar

In March 2023, the sales of Bajaj Avenger and Dominar experienced a year-on-year growth of 16.19 percent and 32.52 percent, respectively. The Avenger 200cc variant received more demand, with 1,572 units sold, while only 380 units of the Avenger 250cc were sold. Similarly, the Dominar 400cc model witnessed higher sales, with 820 units sold compared to 643 units of the 250cc variant. Bajaj Auto has recently registered three new names.

Bajaj Boxer, Pulsar, CT and Platina

Bajaj Auto's exports experienced a significant year-on-year decline of 39.19 percent, with 87,954 units shipped in March 2023 compared to 1,44,641 units in March 2022. This represents a volume de-growth of 56,687 units. The Bajaj Boxer was the most sought-after model globally, with 40,252 units sold in March 2023, down by 55.28 percent from the 90,016 units sold in March 2022. The Boxer 110cc had 22,426 units exported last month, while the Boxer 150cc and Boxer 125cc witnessed 11,914 units and 5,912 units of exports, respectively. The Boxer commanded a 45.76 percent share on the list of exported models.

The Pulsar range experienced a decline in sales with 18,646 units shipped in the previous month, showing a 17.67% YoY de-growth compared to the 22,648 units sold in March 2022. However, the Pulsar 200cc model was the most in demand with 13,692 units shipped, demonstrating a growth of 42.36% from the 9,618 units sold in March 2022.

In March 2023, the global markets received 2,340 units of Pulsar 250cc, 1,657 units of Pulsar 125cc, and 957 units of Pulsar 150cc. Despite a marginal improvement of 0.29% YoY, exports of Bajaj CT were at 16,416 units, with the CT 110 cc accounting for the majority of the share at 8,136 units in March 2023. The CT 125cc and CY 150cc each saw lower YoY exports with 7,992 and 288 units shipped, respectively.

Bajaj Discover and Dominar models had a YoY de-growth of 15.67% and 8.68%, respectively, with 8,952 units and 2,440 units sold in March 2023. Avenger sales, on the other hand, increased by 190.41% YoY to 636 units, with 444 units of Avenger 220cc and 192 units of Avenger 200cc sold last month.

Platina exports were down 70.88% to only 612 units in March 2023 from 2,102 units sold in March 2022, with Platina 110cc receiving more attention, selling 324 units in March 2023.
