BMW’s second-generation X2 is set to launch in late 2024, featuring enhanced design, advanced technology, and diverse powertrain options. While the global launch is set for 2024, the X2 could come to India after its release in other markets.

BMW X2 - Set to Launch in 2024 | What to Expect?

BMW is set to launch the second generation of its pioneering coupe SUV, the BMW X2, in late 2024. Having introduced the coupe SUV concept to the premium compact segment, the new X2 features significant enhancements in design, performance, and technology.

Design & Exterior

The new BMW X2 showcases a prominent coupe silhouette with increased dimensions—194mm longer, 21mm wider, and 64mm taller than its predecessor. The updated styling includes a coupe-like roofline that flows seamlessly into the rear, an upright front profile, flared wheel arches, and a muscular rear profile, giving the crossover a strong and bold visual appearance.

Additional design features include updated LED headlamps and taillights, and an optional illuminated kidney grille. The X2 is also the first compact crossover from BMW to offer optional 21-inch wheels. The clean surface design, minimal dynamic lines, and integrated door handles enhance the car's aerodynamic efficiency.

Interior & Features

Inside, the new BMW X2 offers more space and advanced technology. The cabin is equipped with the BMW Curved Display, combining a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment display into a single glass panel. The car features BMW iDrive 9, focusing on touch and voice control through the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

New features include a cabin-facing camera for taking photos and recording videos. The interior design emphasizes modernity and convenience, ensuring a premium experience for the occupants.

Powertrain & Performance

The second-generation BMW X2 offers a range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, and electric variants.

X2 xDrive28i: Powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, this base variant produces 237 bhp and 400 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-96 kmph in 6.2 seconds.
X2 M35i xDrive: This top variant features a more potent 2.0-liter engine, delivering 307 bhp and 400 Nm of torque, reaching 0-96 kmph in 5.2 seconds. Both versions come with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
iX2 xDrive30: The electric variant includes dual drive units producing 313 bhp, achieving 0-100 kmph in 5.6 seconds. It is equipped with a 64.8kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 417 to 449 kilometers.

Dimensions & Cargo Capacity

The new X2 has grown significantly, with a length of 179.8 inches and a wheelbase 0.9 inches longer than the outgoing model. This increase in dimensions results in more interior space for occupants. The cargo capacity ranges from 560 to 1,470 liters, providing flexibility and practicality for various needs.

Launch & Market Position

BMW has been actively teasing the second-generation X2 over the last few weeks, with its public debut scheduled for the upcoming Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. While the global launch is set for 2024, the X2 could come to India after its release in other markets. The new X2 aims to blend performance, versatility, and electric efficiency, appealing to modern SUV enthusiasts.

With its enhanced design, advanced technology, and range of powertrain options, the second-generation BMW X2 promises to offer a premium driving experience. As its launch date approaches, more details on features and pricing are expected to emerge, solidifying its position as a standout in the premium compact SUV segment.
