BPCL Invests Rs 120 Crore for 1800 DC Nationwide EV Chargers by Servotech

Key Highlights

  • BPCL invests Rs 120 crore in 1800 DC EV chargers
  • Servotech to deploy chargers nationwide by end of 2024
  • Capacities: 60kW and 120kW
  • Integration with existing BPCL fuel stations
  • Servotech aims to contribute to India's E-Mobility goals.

In a significant move towards supporting India's electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has invested Rs 120 crore in procuring 1800 DC fast EV chargers. The contract for manufacturing, supplying, and installing these chargers has been awarded to Servotech Power Systems Ltd.

Nationwide Deployment by End of 2024

As part of the BPCL E-drive Project, these chargers are set to be deployed across the nation, primarily at BPCL petrol pumps located in major cities. The ambitious project aims to have all 1800 chargers operational by the end of 2024, contributing to the growth of the EV charging network in the country.

Two Capacities: 60kW and 120kW Chargers

The deployment will consist of two DC fast charging capacities – 60kW and 120kW, catering to different charging needs. This diversity in charging capacities reflects the commitment to providing flexible charging solutions to a wide range of electric vehicles.

Strategic Integration with Existing Fuel Stations

BPCL, with its extensive network of over 13,000 fully automated operational fuel stations in India, is strategically planning the installation of these EV chargers. The goal is to seamlessly integrate EV charging stations within the premises of existing fuel pumps. This approach aims to make EV charging more accessible to a broader audience and foster the growth of the electric vehicle market.

Servotech's Role in E-Mobility Advancement

Delhi-based Servotech Power Systems Ltd, entrusted with the task of manufacturing and deploying the 1800 EV chargers, has already played a significant role in the EV infrastructure landscape. The company has supplied 4000 EV chargers across the country, demonstrating its expertise and commitment to the E-Mobility sector.

Sarika Bhatia, Director of Servotech, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Our focus is on establishing a dynamic EV charging network that makes EV charging accessible for owners nationwide. Through cutting-edge DC Fast EV Chargers, Servotech Power Systems aims to play a pivotal role in realizing India's ambitious goals in the E-Mobility sector, bringing the nation closer to becoming an EV-powered nation.
