Discover the newly launched BYD eMAX 7 electric MPV in India, priced at ₹26.90 lakh. Explore its features, specifications, and competitive rivals.
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has officially launched its fourth product in the Indian market, the eMAX 7. This electric MPV is available in two trim levels—Premium and Superior—with options for either a six-seater or seven-seater layout.
The BYD eMAX 7 has been priced competitively, with the base Premium six-seater version starting at ₹26.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The seven-seater variant is priced at ₹27.50 lakh. The Superior trim level begins at ₹29.30 lakh for the six-seater version and goes up to ₹29.90 lakh for the seven-seater option. Despite a reduction in starting price compared to the outgoing BYD e6 model, the eMAX 7 boasts significant enhancements in design, features, and mechanical specifications.
BYD indicates that the "e" in eMAX stands for its fully electric powertrain, while "MAX" suggests improvements in performance, range, and features compared to the previous BYD e6. The "7" represents the next generation in BYD's electric MPV series, indicating an evolution from its predecessor.
The eMAX 7 features a refined and angular design, a departure from the e6. It incorporates the distinctive Dragon Face design language, characterized by sharper lines, a revised front end with sleek LED headlights connected by a single chrome strip, and updated angular air ducts in the bumper. The MPV is also equipped with redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels and connected LED tail lights, enhancing its modern appeal.
The eMAX 7 comes with two battery pack options:
Premium Variant:
Superior Variant:
The interior of the eMAX 7 combines traditional and modern elements, featuring a more modern dashboard and a 12.8-inch rotating infotainment screen. Although the instrument cluster remains analogue, the cabin includes advanced features such as dual wireless phone chargers, a new gear selector, reworked center console controls, and a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel.
Designed as a three-row MPV, the eMAX 7 offers both six-seat configurations with captain seats in the second row and a seven-seat layout. Additional features include:
In terms of safety, the eMAX 7 is expected to be equipped with advanced features such as:
While the BYD eMAX 7 doesn't have a direct competitor in the Indian market, it serves as an alternative to vehicles like the Toyota Innova Hycross and the Maruti Suzuki Invicto. The hybrid version of the Innova Hycross starts at ₹25.97 lakh and goes up to ₹30.98 lakh, while the Invicto starts at ₹25.30 lakh and tops out at ₹29 lakh.
