Discover what's new with the 2023 Maruti WagonR! From engine upgrades to feature retention, get the key details before its release.
Maruti Suzuki will soon be updating its popular WagonR hatchback lineup in response to the upcoming Real Driving Emissions (RDE) norms, which will take effect on April 1, 2023.
These stricter emission standards require vehicles to meet higher levels of environmental compliance. The new 2023 Maruti WagonR will still have the same 1.0L and 1.2L petrol engines as before, but they will be tuned to meet the BS6 Phase II emission standards.
The 1.0L engine of the Maruti WagonR can produce up to 67bhp of power and 89Nm of torque, while the 1.2L engine can deliver a maximum power of 90bhp and 113Nm of torque. Both engines are equipped with advanced technologies such as Dualjet, Dual VVT (variable valve timing), ISS (idle start-stop), and cooled EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) to ensure improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
Additionally, the new 2023 Maruti WagonR will offer a 1.0L petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit, which can provide a maximum power output of 57bhp when in CNG mode.
According to the manufacturer's claims, the 1.0L petrol version of the Maruti WagonR can provide a fuel efficiency of 24.35kmpl (with manual transmission) and 25.19kmpl (with AMT). The 1.2L petrol variants, on the other hand, have a claimed mileage of 23.56kmpl (with manual) and 24.43kmpl (with AMT).
As for the 1.0L CNG model, it is said to have a fuel efficiency of 34.05km per kg.
The 2023 Maruti WagonR will be available in four different trims: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. However, the CNG option will only be available with the LXi and VXi trims.
The new Maruti WagonR will retain its existing features, including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 4-speaker audio system, a tachometer, a front passenger seat with an under tray, hill hold control, speed-sensitive auto door locks, central locking with keyless entry, an idle start/stop system, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, speed alerts, a seatbelt reminder, ABS with EBD, turn indicators on the wing mirrors, front fog lamps, a blacked-out B-pillar, steering wheel-mounted controls, a rear wiper, washer, and defogger.
