Hero Electric introduces 'Ultra Safe' battery packs in collaboration with Battrixx

Hero Electric scooters have gained popularity in India due to their affordable prices, low maintenance, and eco-friendly nature. They are becoming increasingly popular among urban commuters as a practical and sustainable mode of transportation, with a wide range of models to suit different needs and preferences.

Hero electric and Battrixx partnership

Hero Electric, an electric bike producer, has teamed up with Battrixx, an innovative battery pack manufacturer, to develop lithium-ion batteries for its electric scooters. The latest technology batteries for Hero's entire e-scooter range were developed in-house by their R&D team.

This partnership will promote the safety, dependability, and efficiency of batteries while also supporting Hero's aggressive production schedule in response to the growing demand for electric two-wheelers. Battrixx is a subsidiary of Kabra Extrusiontechnik Ltd. (KET), which is a part of the Kolsite Group.

Hero Electric has partnered with Battrixx to produce advanced cell chemistry battery packs that will power its electric scooters. This strategic collaboration aims to develop and manufacture battery packs with cutting-edge cell chemistry, with the goal of delivering 300,000 battery packs and chargers in the next year.

These batteries comply with the latest AIS 156 amendments, which include features such as IP67 Thermal Protection, A/V Warning Systems, smart BMS, and Live Data Tracking with IoT. The batteries are intelligent and feature two-way communication between the vehicle, controller, battery, and charger, according to a press release from Hero Electric.

According to Hero Electric's CEO, Sohinder Gill- the partnership with Battrixx was developed to ensure optimal performance and safety of the battery packs. The technology was designed to operate effectively and securely across a range of temperatures, with minimal risk of thermal runaway, even at high temperatures of up to 45°C. Hero Electric and Battrixx are dedicated to modernizing and advancing India's EV sector, providing cutting-edge, secure, and innovative mobility options for their customers.

He also said that-they have been focused on establishing a strong localized supply chain for powertrains and batteries, which was not present a couple of years ago.

He noted that it was difficult for the e2W sector to find local suppliers who could meet the quality and quantity requirements for the increasing EV demand.

However, the rapid growth in the EV market has generated interest in the supply chain industry, and businesses are now eager to invest in electric mobility.

Anand Kabra, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Kabra Extrusiontechnik Limited, stated that Battrixx is a key manufacturer of advanced lithium-ion battery packs for various sectors. In response to the increasing demand for electric vehicles in the country, significant investments have been made in infrastructure and technology.

Battery packs are a critical component for EVs, and extensive research and testing are required to ensure they are safe for EV owners. The company has undergone rigorous testing and R&D over the last 18 months, and it is ready to offer high-quality batteries that meet global standards for the rapidly expanding Indian EV industry.

Kabra is optimistic about working with Hero Electric to provide an innovative, safe, and long-lasting Li-ion LFP battery chemistry to support the growing EV sector.
