Hero MotoCorp is all set to enter the EV space with Vida Electric, the company's EV subsidiary. This has come after the company has faced several issues including the supply chain disruptions which delayed the announcement.
Hero MotoCorp, India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, will enter the electric mobility industry in 2022. Vida, the company's new EV subsidiary, will launch the world's first electric scooter in India on October 7, 2022. Hero MotoCorp originally planned to launch its e-scooter in March 2022, but supply chain issues forced the company to push the date back.
Hero MotoCorp will launch the Vida electric scooter at the Hero Global Center of Innovation and Technology in Jaipur, Rajasthan (CIT). "A new era in mobility is about to begin, VIDA - Powered by Hero," was the slogan used to announce this corporate event to Bombay Stock Exchange. This electric scooter is predicted to be a mass-market item and will likely fight with the hugely well-liked Ola S1 and Ather 450X electric scooters, despite the fact that we don't yet know much about it.
Remember that Hero MotoCorp's Vida sub-brand for electric mobility was launched in March 2022, but the launch of the scooter had to be postponed due to supply chain issues. It is a completely new identity for the company's cutting-edge mobility solutions, according to the company. Hero MotoCorp will manufacture the first electric two-wheeler under the Vida brand at its manufacturing facility in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.
Hero's Vida electric scooter is projected to have a lithium-ion battery pack and a mid-mounted electric motor in terms of specifications and functionality. The range of the Vida should be comparable to that of other similar electric scooters, which is normally between 70 and 80 miles on a single charge. In order to compete with scooters like the TVS iQube and Ola S1, it is envisaged that the Vida model will be economically priced and accessible.
Hero MotoCorp has not yet provided any information about the Vida electric scooter, but it has said that deliveries will start near the end of the year. As a result, keep an eye out for updates regarding Hero's impending Vida electric scooter.
