Explore Honda Cars India’s October 2024 sales performance. A detailed look into domestic and export numbers with year-over-year and month-over-month analysis.
Even though the festive season has spiked the sales in Cars, Honda Cars India Ltd. (HClL) had a mediocre October 2024 sales performance. Month-over-month (MoM) and year-over-year (YoY) comparisons show that exports increased, but domestic sales decreased. This study examines Honda's October 2024 sales data, contrasting export and domestic sales while taking the holiday season's effect on overall performance into account.
Honda's sales decline in October 2024
Although more people visited showrooms over the festive season, which included festivals like Durga Puja, Diwali, Dhanteras, and Navratra, Honda Cars India did not see a complete increase in sales. When comparing this month's performance to October 2023 and the previous month, September 2024, sales have decreased.
Sales Metrics | October 2024 | September 2024 | October 2023 | YoY Change (%) | MoM Change (%) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Domestic Sales (Units) | 5,546 | 5,675 | 9,400 | -41% | -2.27% |
Exports (Units) | 4,534 | 5,236 | 3,683 | +23.11% | -13.41% |
Total Sales (Units) | 10,080 | 10,911 | 13,083 | -22.95% | -7.62% |
In October 2024, Honda's domestic market witnessed a sharp decline:
5,546 copies sold domestically overall.
Compared to October 2023, when sales were 9,400 units, October 2024 had a 41% YoY drop in sales, with a volume loss of 3,854 pieces.
Month-over-Month (MoM) Comparison: October 2024 sales were down 129 units, whereas September 2024 sales were 5,675 units, a 2.27% decrease.
This muted performance could have been caused by Honda's small product lineup in India, which includes the Amaze, City, and the recently released Elevate. Honda's future domestic sales are expected to be supported by the impending next-generation Amaze, which is presently undergoing testing.
Although MoM exports decreased, Honda's export performance was somewhat better year over year:
Although HClL's total October 2024 sales reached 10,080 units when combining domestic and export data, this still showed a general decline:
Total Sales YoY Decline: 3,003 units less than in October 2023, a 22.95% decrease.
Overall Sales MoM Decline: 831 units were lost, a 7.62% decrease from September 2024.
"The festive sales momentum in October, with Navratra, Durga Puja, Dussehra, Dhanteras, and Diwali celebrated in the same month, contributed strongly to the customer deliveries at the dealerships," said Mr. Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., in response to the October 2024 performance.
Honda's October 2024 sales paint a complicated picture, with demand over the holiday season being insufficient to offset more general sales issues. A better sales prognosis in the upcoming months could be possible with the introduction of the next-generation Amaze. For the time being, nevertheless, Honda's performance indicates that strategic changes are required to restore momentum in the cutthroat Indian market.
