Honda has introduced a new ADAS feature in its new Honda City Facelift model. It is available in two variants petrol and hybrid.
Honda has introduced the facelift of its fifth-generation City model with prices ranging from Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 20.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the latter being for the top-spec City Hybrid. The City facelift includes minor cosmetic enhancements, more equipment, a fresh entry-level variant, and a new paint colour.
The City petrol and City Hybrid now have lower starting prices as a result of the introduction of new entry-level trims. The entry-level City petrol is now available at a price that is Rs 38,000 cheaper than its predecessor.
Additionally, the City hybrid, with the new entry-level variant, is now a full Rs 1 lakh more affordable than before. However, the prices of the existing trims have gone up in the range of Rs 15,000-35,000, depending on the variant.
The petrol version of Honda's City model maintains its dual-tone beige-black cabin, while the hybrid model features a two-tone ivory-black combination.
Additionally, the City now features ambient lighting in the cabin door handle area and front door pockets. The brightness of the ambient lights can be adjusted or turned off entirely, according to preference.
Honda has included several new features, such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an upgraded infotainment system, remote control access through a smartphone app, an enhanced rear camera, and a wireless charging option.
On the other hand, the City e: HEV comes with a new carbon fibre pattern for the instrument panel finish and piano black finishes for both the AC vents and steering wheel.
Honda has recently introduced the 2023 City facelift, which features advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) technology. The updated City model is available in four different variants: SV, V, VX, and ZX.
The VX variant offers the option of a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic. The price range for the new Honda City model is between Rs 11.49 lakh to Rs 15.97 lakh (ex-showroom).
One of the most notable updates to the 2023 City facelift is the inclusion of ADAS technology.
This technology, also known as Honda Sensing, offers several features such as auto emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane departure warning (LDW), lane keeping assist (LKA), auto high beam (AHB), and blind spot camera.
These features are available on both the manual and automatic transmission variants of the 2023 City.
Previously, ADAS technology was only available on the strong hybrid version of the sedan. However, Honda has now extended the availability of this technology to the petrol variants of the City as well. The inclusion of ADAS technology in the new City model makes it a safer and more reliable vehicle on the road.
Honda has given the City's exterior a makeover, including updates to the front grille and chrome band, which now houses LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and a new 9 LED array headlamp. Additionally, the City model features newly designed 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED wraparound taillights, repositioned reflectors, rear bumpers, and a rear spoiler.
A new Obsidian Blue Pearl colour has also been added to the range of available colours for the Honda City.
The model is now available in six colours: Radiant Red, Platinum White Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, and the new Obsidian Blue Pearl.
With these updates, the Honda City's exterior has been refreshed, providing a more modern and stylish look.
Both the petrol and hybrid versions of the Honda City facelift have no changes to their mechanical systems. The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces an output of 119bhp and 145Nm of torque, and it is paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic gearbox.
Honda states that the petrol version with manual transmission returns 17.8 kmpl, while the version with the 7-speed CVT returns 18.4 kmpl.
The hybrid variant is still powered by the 125bhp 1.5-litre Atkinson-Cycle petrol engine with a torque of 253Nm, which is paired with an e-CVT gearbox. Honda claims that this combination provides a mileage of 27.13 kmpl.
Although there have been no changes in the mechanical system, the City facelift has received updates to its safety features, exteriors, and interiors, making it a more appealing option for potential buyers.
The updated Honda City (Petrol) will be competing with other models in its segments such as the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, and the latest generation Hyundai Verna, set to be introduced on March 21.
