Honda's upcoming midsize SUV is speculated to have a design similar to the HR-V and WR-V.
The rendering shows a split lighting system and a sloping roofline with a tailgate-mounted spoiler. The SUV is likely to be equipped with features such as a 360-degree camera, a Lane Watch system, and two engine options.
Honda is gearing up to launch a new midsize SUV in the Indian market, shortly after releasing the 2023 City facelift. The company has confirmed that the new SUV will make its debut in Q2 2023, with the launch expected to take place by mid-year.
A recent report suggests that some Honda dealerships are accepting pre-bookings for the upcoming SUV with a token amount of Rs 11,000. While the model is likely to be called the HR-V, Honda has also registered the "Elevate" nameplate in India. The new SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads, featuring a crossover-like design with an HR-V-inspired front end, heavy cladding, and a sloping roofline.
According to a recent rendering, the upcoming Honda SUV is depicted with a split lighting system, featuring LED DRLs positioned on top. The SUV has a boxy and upright stance, resembling the HR-V model that's currently sold in Europe and Japan. The new SUV has a flatter roofline, with the beltline moving upwards towards the sloping rear end. The second row of the vehicle will have a spacious feel, thanks to its large glass areas.
The SUV's rear design will resemble that of the new WR-V and HR-V models. The SUV will feature wrap-around LED tail lights, halogen turn indicators, a sloping roofline, and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. The new SUV will also have several advanced safety features, including a 360-degree camera, Honda's Lane Watch system, an ADAS, six airbags, ESC, VSM, a hill launch assist, and an electronic parking brake.
It is expected to come with two engine options, a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine with e: HEV strong hybrid technology and two electric motors. The former will deliver 121bhp and 145Nm, while the strong hybrid will provide combined power and torque of 126bhp and 253Nm, respectively. The NA engine will be paired with a 6-speed manual and a 7-step CVT.
