Hyundai’s most awaited SUV is getting unwrapped on the 18th June 2021. Hyundai Alcazar launch was on charts for a few months now and buyers were eagerly waiting for the prices that the vehicle would carry.
Hyundai Alcazar was also shared with media during the prelaunch drive event where the vehicle was experienced in a more detailed way than the one we usually saw in spy images. Essentially, Alcazar is the 6 seater version of Hyundai Creta which gets a good number of changes in terms of design and mechanicals. To name a few changes Alcazar gets over the Creta including a pair of captain seats in the 2nd row which is fixed armrest, tan leather wrapping on the dashboard and doors, glass holders for 3rd row, etc.
Outside the car, you get a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels replacing Creta’s 17-inch units. The front gets a new radiator grille which looks more subtle than the outgoing one on Creta. The sides will have some interesting bits, especially after the C-Pillar due to the inclusion of 3rd row seats and an extended length of 150mm over the donor vehicle. At the rear, a new set of tail lamps, upright boot gate design and bumper will be witnessed.
Alcazar will borrow the 1.5-litre diesel engine from the donor vehicle which generated 115PS of power and 250Nm of torque. The 2.0-litre petrol motor is sourced from Hyundai Tucson and Elantra but it is tuned to deliver more power and better performance. It churns out 159PS of power and 192Nm of torque. Hyundai claims that this petrol engine will do 0 to 100 kmph sprint in 9.5 secs. Both the engines will come paired to a 6 speed manual and 6 speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
It’ll be quite interesting to see Alcazar dealing with its rival. Once introduced, the Alcazar will lock its horns with Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Mahindra XUV700. In the later times, we may witness a Kia Seltos based 6 seater vehicle and the facelift of Hyundai Creta too as they have already started doing their rounds of tests. Stay tuned to keep updated.
