Hyundai Unveils Highly Anticipated Exter SUV, Targets Young Tech-Savvy Audience
Hyundai Exter Offers Bold Design, Advanced Features, and Competitive Pricing
Hyundai, a leading automotive manufacturer, has unveiled its highly anticipated Exter SUV, catering to the growing demand for affordable and feature-rich small SUVs in the Indian market. With its bold design, advanced technology, and competitive pricing, the Exter aims to capture the attention of the young, tech-savvy, and on-the-go millennial crowd.
Recognizing the need to fill the gap in the SUV segment, Hyundai has strategically positioned the Exter below the Venue model, directly competing with popular rivals like the Tata Punch, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger. The company aims to regain its stronghold in the SUV market after witnessing increased competition from smaller and more affordable SUV models.
Bookings for the Hyundai Exter SUV are now open, allowing interested customers to reserve their vehicles either through Hyundai dealerships or the online portal. The booking amount for the Exter SUV is set at an attractive ₹11,000, reflecting Hyundai's commitment to providing a value-packed offering to its customers.
The Hyundai Exter boasts a muscular SUV look, featuring signature-H LED daytime running lights and R15 diamond-cut alloy wheels. Customers can choose from a range of appealing colour options, including the all-new Ranger Khaki and Cosmic Blue shades, as well as White with Black roof, Starry Night, Fiery Red, Atlas White, Titan Grey, and Cosmic Blue with Black roof.
The Exter SUV is built on five key pillars, which include an energetic exterior design, a spacious and comfortable interior, advanced technological features, robust stability, and an eco-friendly powertrain. Inside the cabin, customers will find connected infotainment, a piano black finish, well-cushioned seats, 391 litres of generous boot space, a voice-enabled sunroof, over 61 connectivity features, 92 embedded voice commands, and onboard navigation.
When it comes to safety, the Hyundai Exter sets new standards by offering six standard airbags as a first-in-segment feature, along with three-point seatbelts and seat belt reminders. The vehicle also includes electronic safety features such as active stability control and hill start assist. With a total of 26 standard safety features and over 40 advanced safety features, Hyundai prioritizes the well-being of its customers.
Under the hood, the Exter SUV is equipped with an engine that delivers a robust performance of 81.86 bhp and 113.8 Nm of torque in both manual transmission (MT) and automated manual transmission (AMT) variants. Additionally, Hyundai introduces a first-in-segment factory-fitted CNG option, providing customers with a greener and more economical choice. The Exter offers a claimed mileage of 19.4 kmpl (MT), 19.2 kmpl (AMT) in petrol mode, and an impressive 27.1 km per kilo in the CNG variant.
SUVs continue to dominate the Indian car market, accounting for 46% of overall sales. Hyundai, recognizing this trend, has increased its share of SUVs from 34% in 2019 to its current position in 2023. To resonate with the target audience, Hyundai has appointed Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya as the brand ambassador for the Exter SUV, aiming to connect with the young and aspirational consumer base.
The Hyundai Exter is priced competitively to attract customers, with the base variant starting at (ex-showroom and introductory price), while the top-spec variant is available at (ex-showroom and introductory price). With its attractive pricing, advanced features, and youthful appeal, the Hyundai Exter is poised to make a significant impact in the highly competitive Indian small SUV segment.
