In the dynamic landscape of electric vehicles, Hyundai is set to unveil its highly-anticipated Ioniq 7, a 7-seater electric SUV designed to redefine the benchmarks for flagship electric vehicles. The latest spy shots of the Hyundai Ioniq 7 have surfaced, offering a glimpse of a distinctive design feature – a massive connected LED tail light setup spanning the entire rear of the vehicle. The Ioniq 7, expected to be launched internationally later this year, shares its roots with the Kia EV9, slated for release in India in the current year.
The Ioniq 7, positioned as Hyundai's flagship electric vehicle, draws inspiration from the SEVEN electric SUV concept unveiled a couple of years ago. The spy shots reveal an attention-grabbing connected LED tail light, creating a visually striking and cohesive design at the rear. This design choice adds a futuristic and dynamic element to the overall aesthetic of the Ioniq 7, setting it apart in the electric SUV segment.
Moving to the front, the SUV boasts vertically-stacked headlights adorned with pixel-shaped LEDs. These Pixel LEDs contribute not only to illumination but also form the LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), providing the Ioniq 7 with a distinctive and high-tech appearance. The side body claddings, reminiscent of the Hyundai Kona, further enhance the SUV’s robust and modern appeal.
While specific interior details remain undisclosed, expectations point towards a design influenced by the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 models. Anticipated features include dual 12.3-inch screens on the dashboard, a blend of modern aesthetics, and functionality. The iconic Hyundai logo is expected to make way for the brand’s distinctive four-dot emblem, aligning with the company’s recent design language.
Under the hood, the Ioniq 7 is rumoured to share the same powertrain as its Kia counterpart, the EV9, featuring a dual-motor layout with a total system output of 380 bhp and a substantial battery capacity of up to 100 kWh. With an aerodynamic design, the Ioniq 7 is expected to push the boundaries of electric vehicle range further, building on the claimed range of 350 miles (563 km) for the EV9.
In terms of features, the Ioniq 7 is expected to incorporate level-three autonomous driving aids, the use of recycled materials in its interior, third-row seating, and Hyundai’s latest operating system, as seen in the Kona EV. While an official India launch for the Ioniq 7 is yet to be confirmed, industry experts speculate a potential debut in 2025. With Kia’s EV9 scheduled for release in India this year, a parallel launch strategy, following the EV6 and Ioniq 5 sequence, seems plausible.

The Hyundai Ioniq 7 emerges as a symbol of Hyundai’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology. As anticipation builds around its official launch, the striking design elements, powerful specifications, and potential India entry in 2025 make the Ioniq 7 a vehicle to watch in the ever-evolving landscape of electric mobility.
