Kia Carnival changed people’s perspective towards seeing an MPV as a monotonous vehicle with its futuristic features and humongous road presence. Hyundai is now also coming up with their version of this vehicle and they named it Staria.Hyundai Staria will be feature loaded just like Carnival and will be available in multiple seat configurations. It will be available globally by the mid of 2021 and the India launch could take time. This new Hyundai MPV will be available in 2 to 11 seat configurations and in two variants namely Staria and Staria Premium. From the exterior, this MPV has a typical Van like design and its front completely resembles the same. There is steep flow upfront where the front windshield gets an angular design. There’s a LED strip of light that lights up across the width of the vehicle. It gets LED setups for headlights, fog lights and indicators. These lights are mounted on the ends of a wide rectangular grille which is minimalistically chromed.
On the side, there are 3 huge windows which makes the visibility from inside super clear and enjoyable. It gets sliding type rear doors which are also there in Kia Carnival. Also, the wheel size used is also huge. We aren’t aware of the actual wheel size but they may resemble the ones used in Carnival. At the rear, the Van gets a typical Van like boxy design with vertical light setup and a big rear glass.
Inside the car there is no sign to complain about. The big windows make the cabin a lot airy and comfortable. The Staria Premium comes with 7 seat configuration where the two seats in the last row are Relaxation seats with reclining and other functions. They can be moved forward to get more boot space. The 9 seat variant gets swivel seats in the 2nd row which gets the 2nd and 3rd row face towards each other. Thus, it’ll be a great place to have a meeting and enjoy a holiday trip.In terms of safety, the Staria gets 6 airbags along with other essential safety features. It also gets 64 colour ambient lighting, multiple USB charging points, digital instrument cluster, and a Bose music system.
In terms of engines, it will carry forward Kia Carnival’s powertrain. There will be a 3.5-litre petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. These engines can churn out 272PS/331Nm and 177PS/431Nm respectively. Both the engines will come with 8-speed automatic transmissions along with a 6-speed manual for diesel. While Hyundai and Kia are already giving so much in their vehicle, do you think this could be alarming for premium vehicles like Mercedes V-Class and Toyota Vellfire in India? What do you think about this? Let’s discuss in the comment section.
