Do people really prefer Maruti Jimny Over Mahindra Thar, let's look into it.
Maruti Suzuki recently launched the highly anticipated Jimny in the Indian market, a product that has been eagerly awaited by enthusiasts for a considerable time. While the automaker took its time to assess the market, it aimed to offer the Jimny in a practical 5-door version. However, the real question remains: Can the Maruti Jimny outshine the dominant presence of its biggest rival, the Mahindra Thar, in the realm of off-roading?
The customer feedback for the Maruti Jimny is mixed, with some users praising its compact size, fuel efficiency, and off-road capability, while others criticizing its high price, low space, and outdated design.
The customer feedback for the Mahindra Thar is mostly positive, with users appreciating its rugged looks, spacious cabin, powerful performance, and safety features.
Here are five compelling reasons why the Maruti Suzuki Jimny might just be the better bet when compared to the Mahindra Thar:
Both the Jimny and the Thar boast touchscreen infotainment systems. However, the Jimny takes the lead by offering a larger 9-inch display, surpassing the 7-inch unit found in the Thar. Additionally, Jimny's infotainment system stands out with its sharper visuals, better features, and enhanced user experience.
When it comes to dimensions, both the Jimny and the Thar share the same length, but the Thar is wider and taller. This makes the Jimny more suited for city driving, as its compact size enables it to fit into smaller parking spaces and manoeuvre through congested traffic with greater ease.
A significant unique selling point (USP) of the Jimny is the inclusion of rear doors. This design element enhances the ease of ingress and egress for rear occupants. In contrast, the Thar necessitates the sliding of the front seats forward before one can access the rear seats, making it a cumbersome process.
Maruti Suzuki extended the length of the 5-door Jimny to accommodate rear doors and create a more usable boot space. This practical advantage sets it slightly ahead of the Thar in terms of available boot space. Both SUVs offer the option to fold the rear seats, further increasing the storage capacity.
The Jimny comes equipped with a noteworthy safety feature – six airbags as standard. In comparison, the Thar offers only two airbags. However, it is worth mentioning that the Thar has received a commendable 4-star rating in the Global New Car Assessment Programme (GNCAP) crash test.
While the Mahindra Thar has enjoyed a strong presence in the off-roading segment since its initial launch, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny presents a compelling case for those seeking a more practical and feature-rich alternative.
With its rear doors, increased boot space, compact dimensions, enhanced safety features, and superior infotainment system, the Jimny aims to challenge the Thar's off-roading dominance and win over the hearts of adventure enthusiasts across the country.
