Jeep Compass created a lot of buzz when launched and now, Jeep is coming up with a 7 seat version of this robust vehicle and probably, they’ll name it Jeep Patriot. The upcoming vehicle has been taking rounds on test and spotted multiple times. However, Jeep doesn’t seem to be launching this vehicle anytime sooner than 2022. Jeep Patriot is expected to arrive with two engine options. There will be a Compass sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine which generates 173PS of power and 350Nm of torque. With Patriot, the diesel engine is expected to come with a further tuning to raise the engine’s power and make it a 200PS churner and get a 6-speed manual or 9 speed dual clutch transmission. The second engine will be a Jeep Wrangler sourced 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine which will be paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. While Patriot has always been an alternate to the Compass back in 2006, Jeep decided to make a premium offering above Compass. The name was registered in India as well during 2007. Jeep being known for its robust off-road capabilities, we are expecting 4x4 and 4x2 versions of this SUV where the 4x2 version will be economical and good for daily commute. The jeep Patriot will be introduced in a price bracket of Rs. 30 to 40 lakhs ex-showroom which carries other well established SUVs in India including Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturus, and Isuzu MUX. While Jeeps have always been tough and rugged in terms of offering, they need to be as solid in providing values and features as per Indian’s taste in Patriot as well. The Jeep Compass when launched in India in 2017 was a hot car and immediately gained so much of popularity due to its capable engine, impressive design, loads of room, and an enthusiastic driving experience. However, the higher prices of the car, poor fuel efficiency in petrol and lack of features (which other manufacturers are providing in their cheaper vehicles) broke people’ s hearts. Do you think this won’t be the case with Patriot and it’ll be potent enough to beat Toyota Fortuner? Let us know in the comments.
