The South Korean automaker, Kia Motors, celebrates a remarkable milestone as its flagship model, the Kia Seltos, crosses the 1 lakh booking mark, solidifying its position as a leading player in the competitive compact SUV segment.

A Journey of Success

Seltos has been a game-changer for Kia Motors since its debut in India, marking the beginning of the brand's foray into the Asian subcontinent. The SUV's distinctive design, aesthetics, and packaging has gathered widespread acclaim, propelling it to the forefront of Kia's lineup.

Surpassing Expectations in Sales

In December 2023, the sales chart spoke volumes about Seltos' popularity, making it India's best-selling compact SUV and surpassing the long-reigning Hyundai Creta. Since its introduction in July 2023, the new Seltos, also known as Seltos 2.0, has achieved a staggering 1 lakh+ bookings.

Unveiling the New Seltos

The launch of the New Seltos last year witnessed a revamp of its interiors and a striking new exterior design. With an enticing starting price of Rs. 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the SUV became an irresistible choice for discerning buyers.

Understanding Customer Preferences

Analyzing the buying trends and preferences of over 1 lakh customers offers valuable insights into the Indian automotive market.

Automatic Variants Dominate

Approximately 50% of total bookings for the new Seltos are for automatic variants, indicating its popularity among urban dwellers, first-time car buyers, and the tech-savvy generation.

Diesel vs. Petrol Preference

Diesel variants continue to attract a significant market share, constituting 42% of total Seltos bookings, while petrol variants make up the remaining 58%.

Safety First with Level-2 ADAS Tech

Safety-conscious buyers have driven the demand for the Seltos Facelift, which offers Level-2 ADAS tech with 17 features. This safety suite proposition has accounted for 40% of total Seltos bookings.

Manufacturer's Perspective

Mr. Myung-sik Sohn, Chief Sales & Business Officer, Kia India, expresses his excitement about the market success of the new Seltos. He acknowledges the SUV as one of the smartest choices available and credits the customers' response for consolidating Kia's market leadership in the mid-SUV segment.
