In India, Land Rover has introduced the Defender 130, the third body style for the off-road vehicle.
Land Rover has launched the third body style for the offroader, i.e. Defender 130 in India. Hence accomplishing the three-pronged model lineup of 90, 110 and 130, while the first two models were on sale in 2020.
The ex-showroom price of the new Land Rover Defender 130 in India has been between 1.30crore-1.41crore which is offered in HXE and X-trims. The vehicle is provided with both petrol and diesel engine options. The longest variant in the Defender line-up is 130 and has a three-row layout with up to eight people of seating.
Let’s look at the price of the Defender 130 in India
| Variants | Price ||----------------|---------------|| 3.0 Petrol HSE | Rs 1.30 crore || 3.0 Diesel HSE | Rs 1.30 crore || 3.0 Petrol X | Rs 1.41 crore || 3.0 Diesel X | Rs 1.41 crore |
In the Defender 130, 340mm has been added behind the rear axle of the Defender 110, meaning both are similar until the C-pillar, as well as the wheelbase. The departure angle of the SUV has been reduced to 28.5deg from the defender 110’s 40deg as the 130 has a much longer rear overhang. Apart from the additional length, there is nothing else which shows the difference between its smaller siblings as all the versions of defender came with similar styling cues.
The Defender 130 comes with a new two-three-three seating layout which makes it the only luxury SUV to have more than seven seats. The stadium format is used to arrange the three rows in the eight-seat SUV in which the centre and rearmost rows are a bit lifted up to increase forward transparency.
Land Rover claimed that three adults can be seated on the third row without any discomfort. There is an option to equip four-zone air conditioning and a second sunroof too by which third-row passengers can get additional light.
The Defender 130 has a meridian audio system, connected car tech, an 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the latest Pivi-Pro software, 14-way electrically adjustable front seats, a fully digital instrument cluster, 20-inch wheels and more.
Mercedes- Benz GLS (Rs 1.19 crore-1.21 crore) and BMW X7 (Rs 1.22 crore-1.25 crore) are the closest competitors of Land Rover Defender 130 in India.
However, Defender 130 is the largest of them and has more seating capacity, but it is also the most costly when compared with them.
