Mahindra hikes Scorpio-N, Thar, XUV700 prices due to production costs. XUV700 sees the highest surge, while strategic reductions balance the impact.
Mahindra and Mahindra, the prominent Indian automotive manufacturer, has recently announced a price hike for three of its flagship models – Scorpio-N, Thar, and XUV700 SUVs. The decision comes shortly after the unveiling of the updated XUV700, featuring new features and color options. This move is a part of the company's strategy to cope with the escalating production costs, resulting in an immediate effect on specific variants of the aforementioned SUVs.

The most significant increase is observed in the XUV700 SUV. The AX7 L petrol variant, equipped with a 7-seat configuration and manual gearbox, faces a substantial hike of ₹57,000. Similarly, the diesel variant, available in both manual and automatic transmission, witnesses a price surge of up to ₹53,000. However, amidst the hikes, eight variants of the XUV700 experienced a reduction in prices, with the entry-level petrol variants seeing a drop of up to ₹15,000. The XUV700's pricing now ranges from ₹13.99 lakh (ex-showroom) to ₹26.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with seven variants maintaining their existing price points.
The Scorpio-N and Scorpio Classic models have also fallen prey to the price hike, with increases of up to ₹40,000. Interestingly, the Z8 7-seater AWD variant with automatic transmission remains unaffected at ₹23.08 lakh (ex-showroom). The steepest increase is witnessed in the Z8 L 6-seater with manual transmission, affecting both petrol and diesel versions. The Scorpio-N SUV is now priced between ₹13.60 lakh (ex-showroom) and ₹24.54 lakh (ex-showroom).
All variants of the Thar SUV experience a surge in prices, with the highest increase noted in the AX(O) diesel manual variant, up by ₹35,000. The top-end petrol variant, LX with an automatic gearbox, sees a hike of ₹34,000. The Thar SUV's price range now starts from ₹11.25 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹17.20 lakh (ex-showroom).

As Mahindra and Mahindra aligns its pricing with the evolving production landscape, consumers are advised to check the latest price list before making a purchase. The hikes, though inevitable due to the rising costs, are accompanied by a strategic reduction in certain variant prices, showcasing the manufacturer's commitment to providing a balanced offering. The refreshed pricing structure is now in effect, reflecting the ongoing challenges faced by the automotive industry.
