Before going on sale, the eagerly anticipated 5-door Mahindra Thar is being tested around the nation.
The SUV's exterior has been the subject of numerous spy photos, but this is the first time we've had a good look at the interior, including the seating arrangement and cargo area.

The spy photos show that, with a few modifications, the interior is generally comparable to the 3-door model. The design nevertheless has a rough appearance and fascinating features like toggle switches and strategically placed exposed screws.
However, the 5-door Thar comes with a few extra amenities, including a front armrest that might also serve as a storage box, a sunglasses holder, and what appears to be a grab grip provision on the driver-side A-pillar.Although the production model will probably have a touchscreen that supports Mahindra's AdrenoX software, the prototype seen here does not have one.
The extended wheelbase of the 5-door Thar, which is anticipated to be 300mm longer than the latter's 2,450mm, will provide it more capacity in the second row than the 3-door version. The rear doors, however, appear undersized due to the bulging tyre arches, which may hinder entry and exit.
It's interesting to note that while this prototype has two individual back seats, identical to the 3-door model, the final product will probably feature a bench seat. However, it is uncertain if Mahindra would include three-row seats in the Thar. The boot space is also depicted in the images, and it appears to be substantially more than the Thar norm.
Although it has a few distinctive body components, the 5-door Thar will resemble the 3-door variant very closely. It is anticipated that it will also be a little bit wider as Mahindra may widen the space between the wheels in order to maintain the ideal wheelbase-to-track ratio for stability.
The majority of the distinctive Thar components will remain, nevertheless. This image shows how the rear continues to have the angular LED taillamps, a high-placed stop lamp, and a spare wheel fitted to the tailgate.
The 2.2-liter mHawk diesel and 2.0-liter mStallion petrol engines, along with the same 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions as the 3-door Thar, will still power the 5-door Thar, which will share its underpinnings with the Scorpio N.
