Mahindra's new SUV, the XUV700, will be the epitome of power by introducing a powerful 200hp 2L Turbo Petrol engine.
● Mahindra has announced the XUV700 as a logical successor to the currently available XUV500.● The XUV700 is a three-row SUV proposed to be released in 6-seater and 7-seater versions.● The XUV700 will run on powerful diesel and petrol engines, the best in its segment.
Mahindra has announced that its latest proposed release, the XUV700, will come equipped with a 200hp 2L Turbo Petrol engine. In addition, the diesel version will feature a 2.2L 185hp turbo diesel engine.
Besides the powerful engines, car lovers can expect other excellent features in the XUV700 expected to hit the roads somewhere in October 2021.
The Engine – A Powerful Beast
Mahindra debuted its mStallion 2L turbo petrol engine in the Thar 2020 model, but it delivered a maximum of 150hp. The upgraded version of the mStallion capable of delivering 200hp will now be available in the XUV700. Besides, purchasers have the option of going for a diesel version equipped with a 2.2L 185hp turbo diesel engine.
The mStallion made a grand debut at the Auto Expo 2020 with its all-aluminium blocks and a 350-bar direct injection. In addition, the Mahindra XUV700 will feature a 6-speed manual transmission system or an Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque converter auto transmission unit.
The proposed 200hp will ensure that the mStallion engine becomes the most potent petrol-driven motor. The nearest competitor is the Hyundai Alcazar that comes with a similar 2L engine but delivers 159hp. In contrast, the MG Hector is way behind with a 1.5L engine capable of delivering 143hp, whereas the Tata Safari does not offer a petrol model.Mahindra proposes to use its trusted mHawk 2.2L version for its diesel variant. This engine makes the XUV700 the most powerful performer in the diesel segment, as well, at 185hp. The Hyundai Alcazar features a 1.5L diesel engine that produces 115hp output. The MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari are better equipped as they use a similar Fiat-sourced 2.0L diesel engine producing 170hp power.
Mahindra XUV700 – A much-awaited launch
Industry experts believe that the Mahindra XUV700 will launch later this year, with the bookings expected to commence in August. However, Mahindra has not yet revealed the pricing structure.
