While Maruti Suzuki plans to revamp the Celerio, images of the next-gen Celerio have been leaked on the internet.
● The new Celerio looks fresh and could offer two engine options.● The images reveal a bigger model than the present Celerio.● The introduction of a CNG variant is on the cards.
The 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio – Revamped
Maruti Suzuki plans to revamp the Celerio by shifting from the squarish design to the more preferred rounded design. The prime advantage is that it gets rid of angular element, besides improving its aerodynamics.
The new designs leaked on the internet reveal a more upright stance comprising a flat-looking oval grille with honeycomb-like design. The triangular-shaped headlights get rounded off at the corners. A chrome strip connects both the headlamps and culminates in the center with the Suzuki emblem.
The front bumper gets a revamp with minimum creases and goes for a contrasting look with black bits on the fo lamp surrounds and the apron. The top-end next-gen Celerio could get black alloy wheels to deliver a sportier look.
The images show that the new-look Celerio gets a bigger frame than the existing one. The wheelbase and the body seems extended, primarily because of a tapering roofline. The straight shoulder line look for the glass house appears consistent with the design and looks decent.
The car gets a seemingly wider rear side because of the rounded design and the wraparound taillamps. The bumper gets a simple design with a couple of blackened bits to add to its simplicity.
Another confirmed change is that the new Celerio could come with lift-type door handles instead of the pull-type ones present on the existing model. One could also expect the new Celerio to share its other components with its Maruti Suzuki siblings. As this vehicle classifies as a budget hatchback, it could get a standard antenna and 14-inches alloy wheels.
The 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio – Under the hood
The Celerio will be similar to the latest-gen WagonR as it could feature a 1.2L petrol engine capable of producing 83hp power. A new 1.0L 3-cylinder K10 engine is also on the cards. The standard offering will be the 5-speed manual gearbox, whereas customers can avail of the 5-speed AMT as an option.
Maruti Suzuki has not yet declared the prices, primarily because of the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions and the global semi-conductor shortage.
Besides the new Celerio, Maruti Suzuki is planning to revamp other models like the Vitara Brezza, XL6, and the Ertiga. One could also expect a few CNG variants of some of the models soon.
